Why does he continue to use an extremely problematic brand name? "Sounds cool, dude" or "You lose traffic and revenue when you change your brand name" are not good enough reasons.

The Young Turks, an online commentary outlet, holds the name of the Turkish political movement that perpetrated the Armenian Genocide. The main figures of the Young Turk movement, Mehmed Talaat Pasha, Ismail Enver Pasha, and Ahmed Djemal Pasha spearheaded a Genocide that resulted in the deaths of over 1.5 million Armenians.

TYT isn't public, but it's probably safe to assume Uygur isn't self-employed in the usual sense of the word. Venture capitalists usually get a percentage of the organization in return for their cash. Sometimes, a hefty one.

As for why he's an idiot, his 15 years of Armenian Genocide denial didn't help convince people otherwise. Of course, he finally saw the light on that in 2016.
