Magnitsky Act - Nay
Russia Sanctions - Nay

THOSE are foreign policy votes. All three (actually more because there was more than one vote on the Magnitsky Act) show that he does not vote with the Democrats but with the Russians.

get brought up concerning Senator Sanders.

Google "Jeremy Brecher resignation letter" and "Sanders gaza town hall."

He voted in favor of authorizing funds for the Iraq war and the one in Afghanistan. More recently, he voted in favor of a $1 billion aid package for the coup government in Ukraine and supported Israel's assault on Gaza.

And there's the F-35 contract:

For years, retired Col. Rosanne Greco, the de facto leader of the F-35 opposition, has pleaded with members of the congressional delegation to hear public feedback about the impact of increased noise and the loss of habitable homes in the community. In the winter of 2012, Greco and her allies even persuaded 16 Burlington-area ministers and rabbis to issue an open letter to Vermont’s politicians urging further public discussion on the matter.

Yet after all of the letters, rallies and petitions beseeching Sens. Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Peter Welch to meet with residents on the issue, the only response Greco can only point to is a form letter she received from a member of the delegation in which her name was misspelled. (“The letter began, ‘Dear Ms. Truono,’” Greco recalled with a laugh.)

The Bush administration duped almost everyone with propaganda and disinformation from intelligence sources. It can be argued in hindsight that more concrete evidence should have been provided, but the perception of a threat and the fact that it wasn't possible to send someone into Iraq to acquire that evidence put pressure on the members of Congress to approve the IWR.

Imagine how Republicans having the "I told you so" reminders for decades if Iraq used biological, chemical or nuclear weapons while the Democrats sat and did nothing. Keeping that possibility in mind, I can understand why Democrats voted the IWR. Bernie didn't have anything to lose as an independent by voting no to the IWR.

I have no doubt that Biden will be able to respond to Sanders when the time comes.

The discussion won't influence anyone and it will ultimately make Bernie look foolish for mentioning something from over 15 years ago. It will be viewed as a cheap shot and it will probably backfire on Bernie with questions as to whether he is stuck in the past.

Most of the Democratic Senators voted the same way Joe Biden did. The senators that voted for the resolution put their faith in the information provided by the intelligence community, which is much more than understandable. In fact, I wish that our current president would put more faith in the intelligence community rather than our foreign adversaries.

amount of interest that was acquired by the debtor during the 1215-day
period preceding the date of the filing of the petition that exceeds in
the aggregate $125,000 in value in--
``(A) real or personal property that the debtor or a
dependent of the debtor uses as a residence;
``(B) a cooperative that owns property that the debtor or a
dependent of the debtor uses as a residence;
``(C) a burial plot for the debtor or a dependent of the
debtor; or
``(D) real or personal property that the debtor or dependent
of the debtor claims as a homestead.

That means creditors could and will take your home. Given how banks stole homes during the real estate crisis of 2008, do you doubt they'd do the same here.

The exemption is for any interest owed in excess of $125,000 if had been acquired three years before the bankruptcy.

For the exemption to kick in the debt would have to be:

1. interest on a debt
2. interest on a debt in excess of $125,000
3. only that interest on a debt in excess of $125,000 that the debtor had acquired 3+ years before he declared bankruptcy.

but if I'm reading section (p)(1) correctly, I believe it means that someone who filed bankruptcy cannot have that property exempted if it exceeded $125,000 and acquired within the past 3.5 years.

If that is correct, then I can see why creditors would stand up for those provisions in the new law. A $125,000 home was a median value home in most regions of the country back in 2005.

While I have sympathy for those who had an accident or a health issue, I also believe that there are people who manipulate the system who shouldn't be rewarded with a lifestyle that they couldn't afford in the first place.

I'm certain that some will say that I'm being cynical, but I've known many manipulators over the years. Probably the worst was a former supervisor that bought a $50K sports car who then let her $140K home go into foreclosure a few weeks later even though she was making about $120K in salary. She was already in her upper 50s and shacking up with her wealthy retiree boyfriend so her credit rating was irrelevant to her by that point in time.

Perhaps you can provide some more detail if I'm interpreting this incorrectly?

"bankruptcy reform, which was accomplished with Biden’s 2005 bill. Though the law was enormously complex, its most important consequence was simple—the legislation made it harder for millions of Americans who had fallen into debt and who sought relief through bankruptcy to break free from their obligations. At the same time, the bill entitled creditors, such as car companies or mortgage lenders, to an even greater share of their assets. "

attempts to desperately smear Biden with some generic Bernie talking points. You are cherry-picking how you want to focus on only some “victims” of bankruptcy. This kind of cherry-picking was trumped up in 2016–no more.

And it is avoiding the facts to claim that it was only one point of disagreement.

https://psmag.com/economics/bankruptcy-reforms-poor-legacy-4204

In July, Michael Simkovic, a former fellow at Harvard's John M. Olin Center for Law and Economics, wrote that "the data suggests that although bankruptcies and credit card company losses decreased, and credit card companies achieved record profits, the cost to consumers of credit card debt actually increased. In other words, the 2005 bankruptcy reforms profited credit card companies at consumers' expense."
Snip
"I doubt that it was the intention of even those who voted for the bill to increase documentation requirements, bureaucratic paper work and other costs so much that honest low-income and working families, not the 'high rollers' at whom the amendments were supposedly aimed, are deterred or prevented from obtaining the bankruptcy relief they need. But that is what has happened," Sommer said.
Snip
After quoting three bankruptcy judges, including Keith M. Lundin of Tennessee ("Unquestionably, this is the most poorly written piece of legislation that I or anyone else has ever seen.&quot , she concluded that the act is crushing "consumers suffering from the perfect storm of bad mortgages, credit card debt, stagnant wages or unemployment and rising food and fuel prices."

The 2005 bankruptcy bill makes it harder for poor and working class citizens to file. It does nothing to control the predatory practices of the financial industry.
This was all common knowledge in 2005. It seems to have slipped out of memory now.

https://getoutofdebt.org/111475/2005-bankruptcy-reforms-failed-miserably-help-students
First, we show that BAPCPA did not have a significant effect on the price of loans for the lowest credit score individuals relative to individuals with higher credit scores. In other words, students became effectively unable to discharge their loans in bankruptcy, but did not experience a compensating decrease in price. Second, we do see an increase in loan volumes, but since we do not observe a change in prices and we find that the price elasticity of demand for student loans is not significantly different from zero, we do not attribute this change in originations to a price effect. It is thus easy to argue that BAPCPA was not very helpful to students: they lost the ability to discharge their private student loans, but received no discount in return.

The 2005 act made it much harder for students to discharge debts and did nothing to control usurious lending of student loans.

https://getoutofdebt.org/13988/the-bankruptcy-means-test-and-limits-are-not-fair-colette

Thanks for the question. I’m feeling like being blunt and honest today so here it goes.

The bankruptcy means testing sucks. It has always been crap and it will never be fair to anyone. After all, who is average?

I'm not making a claim of evil. That's your simplistic strawman take on my posts. My case is that Biden fully supported a bill written by republicans and industry insiders and that he was well in the minority of democrats that did so.

Claiming that I am spamming or using biased article is a weak ploy. The real victims of the bankruptcy act include women and children as well as I have demonstrated.

... or with a great amount of specificity, but I guarantee you that the GOP would waste no time in using it to their full advantage. This is why vetting is important. Every... EVERY aspect of a candidate's life is fair game. His (or her) interviews, writings, recordings, votes... successes and failures.

This is also why it's important that primary voters get the opportunity to see the full tax returns from EVERY candidate BEFORE the primary voting begins. Voters have the right to know if there's something in a candidate's background that would be a "showstopper" for his (or her) campaign during the General Election. By that time, it's too fucking late.

The tax returns are boring. We're working on the 'mechanics' (what does that even mean?). No one is really interested. Hah!

Senator Sanders has had plenty of time to pull these records together. The endless excuses and response of 'they'll be released soon' just doesn't cut it.

This isn't 2016 and it isn't bean bag either. Joe Biden will get the full treatment, be required to answer a slew of questions about past positions and policies and votes. And his tax returns. All of our candidates will taste the test by fire.

The Senator from Vermont is not immune to the very same treatment. Not this time.

Just give the receipts up, Senator Sanders. Then let the chips fall as they may. But stop with the damn excuses. They don't work.

And worse, at a few critical moments in 2006, he broke with Democrats and progressives and stood with the hardline anti-immigrant wing of the Republican Party.

The House passed a bill that would have allowed undocumented immigrants to be detained indefinitely and curtailed avenues to fight deportation in court. The ACLU called the bill “inhumane” and the National Council of La Raza called it a “very ugly, very harmful enforcement-only approach… to criminalize the undocumented population.” And it was a bill to which Representative Bernie Sanders said “aye.”
