Mike Gravel.

I know people think Mike Gravel is some coot.. but i can promise you he isnt. hes a smart and thoughtful dude. he has no expectations whatsoever to be the nominee, he wants to be there to hold everyone elses feet to the fire. he will not let them get away with spouting bullshit.
so, before you start calling him names and putting him down... know he just wants us to pick the best candidate we can muster. he will call them out on lies. trust me. hes at the age where he just doesnt give a flying F about anything but trying to make this country a better place before he leaves this earth.. i think we might need a lil bit of that. i think thats admirable.

so in a gesture of solidarity , i am temporarily changing my 'who i support' poll candidate for a week.

if youre curious about this stances, you can find them here :
https://www.mikegravel.org/issues/

im not asking anyone to vote for him in the primary. i just think he should be in the debates.

sorry if my opinion upsets anyone, thats not my intention whatsoever.

I liked him in 2008.

He is the guy who got the Pentagon Papers into the Congressional Record. He's not a "coot" at all.

Nicole Sandler has a good interview with him in this episode of her podcast:

That's precisely why for the time being I changed my support icon (from Liz Warren): to show solidarity with a great man, who wants nothing more than to be allowed to debate.

The fact that so much of his humanist, reformist, egalitarian platform could never be allowed to become national policy by the powers-that-be, is very much to our detriment.

Here's hoping Mike's with us long enough to see at least some of his hopes come to fruition.

I don't dispute that in the past he WAS smart and thoughtful, but I'm not seeing any evidence of it now. He hasn't said a thing this time; all we have to evaluate him are the tweets of a bunch of High School students, that may be his words, or may be an interpretation of his words, or may be made up.

He IS an old coot.
He DOESN'T hold anyone's feet to the fire.
He ISN'T smart enough to know that he should NOT be a candidate for president.

...and he'll do so in the debate. He can be very effective at kneecapping any of the current Democratic candidates because, let's be honest, he absolutely has zero chance of winning - and he knows this. It won't be about jockeying for position and it'll be harder for anyt of the candidates to snipe back at someone who's not even polling at 1% nationally. Every single person here should be asking themselves why Gravel is running and what his message will be - especially if you review his twitter. He attacks Democrats just as much, if not more, than he actually ever attacks Trump.

Here's a breakdown of tweets from the last week:

1 tweet attacking Democrats in congress
2 tweet attacking the DNC
1 tweet attacking Pelosi
1 tweet attacking VP Pence
1 tweet calling centrist Democrats idiots
1 tweet telling House Democrats to fuck off
1 tweet attacking Alex Acosta
4 tweet attacking 'Jailin' Joe' Biden
1 tweet attacking Harris
1 tweet specifically attacking Trump
1 tweet attacking Hickenlopper, demanding he drop out of the race
1 tweet attacking Tom Steyer
1 tweet attacking Eric Swallwell when he dropped out, saying he's now 'scurrying back to the House to do nothing' and then advocating for him to lose reelection
1 tweet that semi-attacks Trump...but it was used to attack Nancy Pelosi overall.

This is who'll be on the stage - someone who clearly has no problem throwing some nasty mud at Democrats. I expect he will. He'll probably go hard at Biden and Harris with some crappy BS.

His campaign is run by a couple reddit incels and is a disaster for the Democrats.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
