CEDAR RAPIDS, Ia. Ten Democratic presidential candidates took the stage Sunday afternoon in 90-degree weather to address would-be Iowa caucusgoers, but only Pete Buttigieg got a standing ovation.
"If we embrace a left-wing agenda, the presidents going to say were socialists and were for open borders. If we adopt a conservative agenda, the presidents going to say were socialists and were for open borders. So we might as well stand up for what we believe in and take it from there," Buttigieg said.

(62,387 posts)so it was not as if he was the star among the full line up.
Scheduled speakers were:
Senator Michael Bennet, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former HUD Secretary Julian Castro, Mayor Bill de Blasio, former Congressman John Delaney, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, former Governor John Hickenlooper, Governor Jay Inslee, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congressman Seth Moulton, Congressman Tim Ryan, and Marianne Williamson.
Just seemed a bit misleading to me.

It's helpful to read more than just the headlines of an article. The headlines aren't intended to tell the complete story. Just the most salient point. That's why there are actual articles that follow.
Geez-o-Pete.

(32,594 posts)He's still a long shot for this election, but he's making great strides and everybody has noticed. In my opinion the best thing he can do would be to lead a cornbelt coalition of the midwestern farming states. It won't win him the nomination but he'll surely be a major factor at next year's Convention.
I believe he's the future of our Party, with a few other young leaders.
