Democratic Primaries

from The Hill, BY MAX GREENWOOD AND JONATHAN EASLEY - 07/20/19:
I think her statements, campaign are smoke and mirrors, said Dick Harpootlian, a Biden campaign surrogate and the former chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party. As the campaign wears on and as shes pressed to prove details, I think shes going to find herself realizing this isnt a campaign for attorney general of California. This is a presidential campaign, and what you say has to be verifiable, and so far it has not been.
Harriss allies roll their eyes at such criticisms, saying her rivals are playing an insider game of trying to pin her down on obscure matters that ordinary Americans dont care anything about.
They say Harris is resonating with voters as an aspirational figure a woman of color who rose to attorney general of California and a U.S. senator not because of policy minutiae.
People are responding to her for who she is and what she says about the future, said Marguerite Willis, a Harris supporter and former Democratic candidate for governor in South Carolina.
She talks about the promise of expanding health care, of better race relations, of taking care of our teachers, of getting our terrible gun problem under control. Thats what people are looking for, and thats what she speaks about on the stump with eloquence and believability. The rest of it is just politics.

That's been my impression also. But is that enough to win a primary race in California, or any other state?

(23,099 posts)She attacked Biden for not supporting a national busing policy, made out ike it hurt her as a child, then said she didn't support it as a national policy. For anyone paying attention, this hurt her because it makes her look totally hypocritical. She was my #3 person, but now is way down the list. If Joe can't express himself better, I might switch to Liz, she's my #2 person and I love that she's putting her policies out front instead of just spouting gotcha phrases that she doesn't even support herself.
I will insert my stock stanza about I will vote for anyone in the general running against drumpf with a D behind their name. I will put in many hours with the FL Democratic party to elect someone who is a caring human being and not a fascist tool of PUtin.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
