Sen. Elizabeth Warren heads into the second round of Democratic presidential primary debates in a stronger position than in the first round a month ago.
The populist senator from Massachusetts is now basically all tied with 2020 Democratic presidential nomination rival and fellow progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont for second in the latest national and New Hampshire polls, behind front-runner and former Vice President Joe Biden.
And shes become a grassroots fundraising machine, announcing last week that shes joined Sanders in hauling in individual contributions from more than one million donors.
Warren will be standing center stage next to Sanders at Tuesday nights debate and theres a good chance she could see some incoming fire from some of her nomination rivals.

(7,277 posts)I'm glad they put interview video up. They are talking in a house, somewhere in Bow, very informal - the sounds of local life are streaming through the background. Another nice find, TexasTowelie, thanks.

(42,862 posts)She's always ready... and it shows! I'm really amazed to see how other (supposedly "experienced'') candidates end up looking tired, frail, frumpy or disheveled (no matter how young they are). It reflects negatively on the candidate whenever his (or her) campaign staff fails to prepare the candidate and make sure they get enough rest. When a candidate comes on stage looking mentally exhausted, they are in a weaker position from the one/s who look fresh and energized.
I know that running for office has got to be a very difficult task, but it's pretty clear to me that some people are simply more prepared, more capable, more qualified and more up-to-the-challenge.
Honestly, these "debates" are less about debating and more like a "Candidate's Pageant" for each candidate to smile and wave... and to make a point or two. But it's not really a DEBATE, is it? --- I guess it's more like a game-show panel.
Obviously, as you can tell, I'm not at all impressed with the 10+10 multi-night process. It needs to be winnowed down (SOON!) to those five candidates who actually have a chance. Then the real DEBATE can begin.

(7,277 posts)Such incredible energy. There was a video of a TPM reporter trying to catch her as she was running for the subway. When they reached the hall crowds he caught up, but before that ...
10 person debate? When candidates only have 30 seconds to respond, expect more talking points.

(14,570 posts)It will be very exciting, particularly since it is post-Mueller testimony, we STILL have the illegal concentration camps on the border, and Trump has been hate-tweeting racist rants for about a week.
