Gloria Borger was testing him on decriminalizing border crossings and mentioned that it would be equivalent to open borders like trump has been bloviating about. Castro told Gloria that her question was a right wing talking point. She was taken aback by his response. Then her co-talking head (the black lady whose name escapes me) jumped in stating that Jeh Johnson was opposed to decriminalization. Castro calmly replied, yes and I was disappointed to hear him take this position. Castro continued that he wasn't about to abandoned what is right because of Trump's attacks. He said we need to advocate doing the right thing and explain it to the American people.

Pete's been saying the same thing alll along. Fuck what the Republicans think. Stand up for what is right and sell it to the American people.

We have candidates using right wing talking points against MFA because they fear doing what they know in their heart is right will be used against them in the GE and then we have Kamala who's twisted herself up like a pretzel on the issue. Even Warren fudged on the question about higher taxes to pay for it. She should have just used Bernies answer. Pete and Castro get it. That's a sure-fire losing strategy.

I like Castro but he's just not moving the needle. And 2020 just isn't going to be Pete's year.
