Listenting to the short Q&As with candidates today makes me realize

just how horrible the CNN debate actually was.

Talking extemporaneously, from the heart, in a natural voice tone -- our candidates sound so good. SO MUCH BETTER than they sounded on the stage last night.

These debates, I'm not sure any news organization can conduct a good one. CNN certainly found a way to bring out the worst in everyone!

I'm kinda thinking the candidates should consider skipping the next debates. Posting a youtube in-depth video instead.

Yang calls out 'reality TV show' style elections that resulted in Trump: 'We need to be laser-focused'

Andrew Yang ripped the media and U.S. politics in general during his closing statement at Wednesday's Democratic presidential primary debate in Detroit, trashing America's "reality TV show" elections that he said contributed to President Trump's 2016 victory.

Yang remarked during his closing statement that some in the media focused on his wardrobe during the first debate rather than his policy proposals and called on voters to be "laser-focused" on dealing with pressing issues facing the country.

"We're up here with makeup on our faces and our rehearsed attack lines, playing roles in this reality TV show," Yang quipped. "It's one reason why we elected a reality TV star as our president.

"We need to be laser-focused on solving the real challenges of today," he added.

is political suicide. You need that exposure if you're a lower-tier candidate, and if you're a higher-tier candidate, you don't want to leave yourself vulnerable to charges that you "can't take the heat".

Perhaps the talk time limits were too short. That problem can be fixed as the field whittles down.

an upcoming UFC fight. Their goal is basically to get the candidates to sling poo at one another and see what lands, who gets flustered, who goes off the rails, etc.

It has nothing to do with providing us with information or helping us to clarify our choices.

conversation between 2 candidates discussing their ideas and differences

I don't watch these media debates. they are not designed to enlighten or even provide information.

I think the parties made a big mistake when they ended having the League of Women Voters present debates.

I saw a clip of 2 candidates last night being introduced as though they were contestants on a game show and almost felt that I would not want either to be president-although both are probably credible candidates for president.

These media-driven events diminish democracy and really insult the country.

Besides the distractions and possible unfair influences of audience reactions (and possible protesters), the very environment of being in a large hall puts candidates into their big "speak to the crowd" mode, where as you mention, they often come across as more real and more sincere when they speak in their normal voice. What is gained by putting the event into some phony sporting arena?
