1. Are national polls ever useful?

I feel like I've made this mistake in past primaries and then most definitely in 2016. I guess the question really is: what is the best way to use national polling? What should I do with it that will be accurate and helpful?

I feel like I should be gathering state by state polling and focusing on that the most.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

...but over time they can show which candidates are gaining strength and which are not.

Yes it's early. But look at our unity, dominant themes and messaging, and the widely known record of our opposition. We struggled with some of this in 2016.
