Was just wondering how we are going to get rid of the Second Coming of Caligula when I ran across this article in the Chicago Tribune:

I think the US will have to go through a long Reconstruction Period after this disastrous presidency has ended. Hope this ends well.

Fantasizing about the day when the real criminals are in jail, and those whom they've victimized are in charge!
TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION COMMISSION!! PASS IT ON.

I don't mean to disparage, but lately, I've gotten a hard wake-up call about how little teens and younger adults seem to know about history and historical figures, much less literature. It really saddens me.
And yes, I realize that those exceptional younger teens and adults who are very well educated, aware, and well-read deserve an apology in advance. I just wish more had that interest.

(15,071 posts)However, Caligula was crazier than a hoot owl. The nickname means 'little boot.'
My understanding is that Caligula led a couple of legions over to the coast of France near what is now Calais, and discovered he was frightened of the ocean.
So he had all his legion gather sea shells and went back to Rome, where the people cheered his triumphal entrance with 'treasures' from Neptune. I could see Trump doing that shit for sure.
