Gillibrand drops out

Kirsten Gillibrand Drops Out of Democratic Presidential Race

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, who presented herself in the presidential race as a champion of women and families, said Wednesday that she was withdrawing from the Democratic primary after failing to qualify for a third debate next month — a development she described as fatal to her candidacy.

Ms. Gillibrand said in an interview that she would endorse another candidate in the primary but had not yet picked a favorite. Though she stopped short of saying she would endorse a woman, Ms. Gillibrand, who has made electing women to Congress a personal cause, said the next president had to be capable of uniting the country and suggested that a woman might be best suited for the job.

“I think that women have a unique ability to bring people together and heal this country,” Ms. Gillibrand said, adding, “I think a woman nominee would be inspiring and exciting.”

But she added: “I will support whoever the nominee is, and I will do whatever it takes to beat Trump.”

But why was her campaign pushing so hard for 130k unique donors as recently as ***just a few hours ago*** if she was planning to drop out today? I know that she can use the funds for other purposes, but it seems duplicitous to push for donors just to shut down your campaign a couple of hours later.

She'll be up for election for her senate seat again in 2024. So, presumably without a need to style her legislative record for either reelection or a run for president, the next years will hopefuly allow voters to become confident that she is ideologically and ethically what they want her to be.

that didn't allow me to trust her. She'll be NY's concern again now.

As I said above, her behavior over the next 5 years will hopefully reassure voters that her move to the left is real, not just opportunistic. And that things like her bill that called for imprisoning people for up to 20 years for refusing to trade with Israel for political reasons were just horrible misunderstandings. By then hopefully she'll have demonstrated unswerving commitment to the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, and the enlightened liberal principles they embody.

She didn't speak to even one accuser. If you don't speak and listen to the women, you can't claim they are credible. Yet Gillibrand did exactly that. Whoops!

She could've led the charge in exposing Roger Stone as a rat 🐀effer. Given the ongoing Russian interference in our Democracy, would an investigation have shown that the GOPEE was conspiring with the Russians to oust an outstanding senator? Minnesotans were robbed of finding out.

She could've saved her colleague, leveraging Her credibilty on matters of sexual assault. She could have educated people about the differences between assault and harassment. How and why the punishment for these offenses should be proportional to the offence.

Plus there is the fact Franken was/is innocent. She should give her remaining funds to the DFL in Minnesota or to Tina Smith.

I am not all that happy with her performance.
There is the Al Franken thing, which was obviously manipulated to get him out. I don't know exactly why, but the Democrats wanted him gone, and so he was hung out to dry.
Too bad, he was a really good Senator.
And so, I am happy to see she is out of the race.
Also, she has exactly zero chance to be vice-president.
She needs to work on her current job, and her ethics.
