Castro is digging himself a deeper hole right now with Chris Matthews

I've had it with politicians who won't admit it when they got something wrong.

Castro is destroying his future in Democratic politics tonight.

Julián Castro repeatedly attacked Joe Biden, but was wrong in debate’s most viral moment

While the moment quickly went viral on social media, the Daily Beast’s Lachlan Markay pointed out that Castro was incorrect — Biden didn’t actually say people would have to opt in to his plan. Instead, he said the exact opposite just a minute before the widely shared exchange.

“Anyone who can’t afford it gets automatically enrolled in the Medicare-type option we have,” Biden said of his plan.

I suspect that will even out in the coming months as more voters other than the politically dedicated folks at DU and elsewhere weigh in. 34. Castro's earlier gambit to trap Beto on "criminalization at the border"
Fri Sep 13, 2019, 03:04 AM
Sep 2019

In the earlier debate was the stupidest gambit by any Democratic politician in recent history (and yes I have more experience and expertise on the subject). Days after the debate key figures in Obama's administration explained the error and Castro was regulated to gadfly status among leadership.

It's really too bad because I originally thought he was destined for greatness. He is either knowledgeable but recklessly ambitious or incredibly shallow. Not since John Edwards have I been so wrong about a politician that I admired, and I didn't even see his widely panned performance tonight.

My best friend who I normally watch the debate strongly disagree over Castro's earlier performance and still admired him texted me "Castro absolutely destroyed himself tonight".

Castro was right. He's still right. Fact checkers aren't automatically right because they call themselves fact checkers. Calling out Biden is perfectly fine to do. Castro did nothing wrong tonight. And he was right. Buying in is not the same thing. Biden was equally as strident earlier against Sanders and Warren regarding MFA, and no one has said one word. And, as someone pointed out elsewhere, I'd argue his "This is America" comment aimed at Bernie was hardly civil. Unity, indeed.

...wth is this?

"...Look, there's institutional segregation in this country. And from the time I got involved, I started dealing with that. Red lining, banks, making sure we are in a position where—look, you talk about education. I propose that what we take is those very poor schools, the Title I schools, triple the amount of money we spend from $15 to $45 billion a year. Give every single teacher a raise to the equal raise of getting out of the $60,000 level. Number two, make sure that we bring in to help the teachers deal with the problems that come from home. We need, we have one school psychologist for every 1,500 kids in America today. It's crazy. the teachers are—i'm married to a teacher, my deceased wife is a teacher. They have every problem coming to them. We have to make sure that every single child does, in fact, have 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds go to school—school, not daycare, school. We bring social workers into homes with parents to help them deal with how to raise their children. It's not want they don't want to help, they don't know quite what to do. Play the radio, make sure the television— excuse me, make sure you have the record player on at night, the phone—make sure that kids hear words, a kid coming from a very poor school—a very poor background will hear 4 million words fewer spoken by the time they get there. 2). Joe Biden – Biden appears to be hitting his groove in these debates. Castro tried to play the age card on Biden, and it blew up in his face. Biden knows who he is and he is strong on his center-left views. Biden looked like the leader of this field when he praised Beto O’Rourke for how he handled El Paso. The former vice president had an answer for his critics and made a strong argument against Medicare For All as being something that won’t help people now. Biden came in as the frontrunner, and he leaves Texas as the frontrunner.

If he's the nominee I'd of course support him over Trump but - he is off my potentials list - won't do anything to support him now.

compared to everyone else in the field - even Elizabeth & Bernie - Joe is by far the most qualified, heavily experienced, and the most well-spoken candidate for the job of POTUS. Castro needs to pay his respects to the elders before he comes out swinging like that. He is a still rather wet behind the ears compared to Joe. He's now lost his chances of being selected for VEEP by Joe.

I hope he will learn from this and mend fences, as Kamala learned the hard way. I liked her directing her attacks to the Idiot and not to Joe yesterday. I think she would be a great candidate, along with Beto, for VEEP.

implying Beto didn't care about gun violence until now.

While Biden gave Beto proper respect.
