presidency and his inept and corrupt cohort present. If nothing else, this opinion essay should
convince any sensible person who subscribes to democratic ideals and ethics that Trump must be removed first and foremost.

But time and again, as I see it, Biden has articulated exactly how dangerous Trump
is and why. Biden has in his grasp a thorough knowledge of governing, of America’s role and responsibility in the world, and of our most pressing issues here and around the world. He sees the big picture. He sees our history and our future with and without Trump.

Thanks for posting the link. This piece is a profound and yet completely comprehensible view of what’s at stake in 2020.

Enough is enough. Every day — every few hours, seemingly — more evidence is uncovered revealing that President Trump is abusing the power of the presidency and is wholly unfit to be president. He is using the highest office in the land to advance his personal political interests instead of the national interest.

The president’s most recent violation of the rule of law — openly calling for China to interfere in our elections, as he stood on the South Lawn of the White House — is so outrageous, it’s clear he considers the presidency a free pass to do whatever he wants, with no accountability....

It is easy to be distracted by Trump’s daily outrages — to become obsessed with them or numb to them, or to normalize behavior that Americans would not have tolerated in any of the previous presidents in the nation’s history. Not me. While the House does its job on impeachment, I’m going to stay focused on what matters: remaking education so every child in the country is equipped to succeed in the 21st century; getting weapons of war off the streets and ending the epidemic of gun violence; building on Obamacare so that every American has access to quality, affordable health care; taking on the climate emergency imperiling the planet; and much more. I’m going to fight to ensure that the United States is once again the leader of the free world; a champion of democracy; and the bulwark of a stable, peaceful international order.

And to Trump and those who facilitate his abuses of power, and all the special interests funding his attacks against me: Please know that I’m not going anywhere. You won’t destroy me, and you won’t destroy my family. And come November 2020, I intend to beat you like a drum.

Biden nails Trump, calls him out for the opportunist he's always been and clearly identifies the damage he's done to the country:

It all comes down to the abuse of power. That is the defining characteristic of the Trump presidency.

We now know he has abused the foreign policy of the United States in an attempt to extract political favors from multiple countries. He has directly asked three foreign governments to interfere in U.S. elections, including Russia, one of our greatest adversaries, and China, our closest competitor. He has corrupted the agencies of his administration — including the State Department, the National Security Council staff, the Justice Department and the office of the vice president — to do his personal political bidding. We also know that the people around him in the White House recognized just how profoundly wrong it was and worked overtime to cover up Trump’s abuses.

Joe takes him on directly while recommitting to the important issues facing us: climate change, gun legislation, healthcare, etc. But here is the money quote for me, something that ties directly into Biden's background and made-for-the-moment qualifications:

I’m going to fight to ensure that the United States is once again the leader of the free world; a champion of democracy; and the bulwark of a stable, peaceful international order.

The idea that Trump made a promise to China not to comment on the Hong-Kong protests because of his lousy trade deal and tariff fight should be abhorrent to Americans. We're standing with tyrants instead of people pushing for democratic reforms. That is the legacy of the Trump Administration. Shameful and unAmerican in too many ways to count.

Good one on Joe!

Wed Oct 9, 2019, 06:49 PM
Oct 2019

Joe Biden has been under sustained assault from President Trump for more than two weeks.

But there’s little evidence that Biden has been significantly bloodied, according to a raft of new polls.
Story Continued Below

In more than a dozen state and national Democratic primary polls since Trump launched his near-daily fusillade of attacks accusing Biden and his son, Hunter, of corrupt business dealings in Ukraine, Biden’s standing has remained largely static.

“There’s nothing discernable to show Biden’s been punched in the nose over Ukraine,” said Tim Malloy, pollster with Quinnipiac University, which released a survey Tuesday showing Biden has lost no support from Democratic voters since its last poll released Sept. 25.

56. Facebook takedowns show new Russian activity targeted Biden, praised Trump
Mon Oct 21, 2019, 07:39 PM
Oct 2019

Putin and Russia are also worried about Joe Biden

Facebook on Monday said it removed a network of Russian-backed accounts that posed as locals weighing in on political issues in swing states, praising President Trump and attacking former Vice President Joe Biden, illustrating that the familiar threat of Russian interference looms over the next U.S. presidential race.

Facebook said the network bears the hallmark of the same Kremlin-backed group that interfered in the 2016 election by sowing social discord, boosting Trump and attacking Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The new disinformation campaign appears to follow the same playbook.

This time, a coordinated group of Russian accounts that appears to show some links to the Internet Research Agency took largely to Facebook’s photo-sharing app, Instagram, to post content this year about U.S. politics and memes targeting Democratic presidential contenders.

The operation demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of the schisms within the Democratic Party as it labors to choose a nominee to face Trump next November. One Russian account, which portrayed itself as as a black voter in Michigan, used the #blacklivesmatter hashtag to hammer Biden for his gaffes about racial issues. Some of the accounts boosted one of his left-wing rivals, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
