division of the Middle East back in the 20s (Lawrence of Arabia, etc) They were promised a nation, with boundaries. I have seen maps of its proposed location. Instead they were split up among Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

I am well acquainted with several Kurdish families due to my daughter's marriage and this whole situation just appalls me. Every one of these wonderful people has family 'back home' about whom they are now bound to be quite worried. My daughter's mother in law is Kurdish/Iraqi and her father in law is Kurdish/Iranian. They came to the US from Teheran, and refer to themselves as Kurdish or Persian.

One of the cousins described the Kurds this way: "First we eat, then we fight, then we dance, then we do it all again" I absolutely love them.

The father in law kind of leans Trumpian and I am just wondering how he is taking this latest turn of events. He is sort of an asshole anyway but still I do not see how anyone from that part of the world who lives here could support #45.

But yes, the Kurds were originally screwed out of their proper homeland back in the 1920's. Nobody knew what to do with all the crazy Muslims, Arabs, Turks and Kurds and I think they just threw darts at a map.

Joe Biden’s Haunted Legacy in Iraq

Biden’s long and contentious record in the country opens a window onto his foreign policy—and an identity crisis in the Democratic Party. This is the definitive history.

Let's pretend the nominee is say Warren and she wins. If I were in her place, I would offer Joe any of the following things and let him pick:

Secretary of State
Ambassador to UN
Ambassador to NATO
Ambassador at Large
General Foreign Policy TRouble Shooter and watchdog (a la President Carter)

Sec State is an exhausting job so he might prefer UN and he would be great for that spot.

Whatever, his foreign policy knowledge and experience should NOT be allowed to go to waste

Joe isn't taking any of those positions. He has already served 8 years as VP. He certainly isn't going to step down the cabinet ladder or take an ambassadorship. He will be President or he will be out.
