Carter is not Jimmy Carter

Do you know when the interview was done? I suspect a few days ago when the press was trying to imply, without implying that Biden’s son was involved with a “terrible Chinese” company, so let’s play the Joe McCarthy game on him

If he didn’t respond, he would be accused of what is he hiding, and if he did, then some presume other negative things

Unless there is evidence to the contrary that Hunter Biden engaged in illegal activity related to this, in spite of the not so subtle inference some in the illustrious press have been trying to infer, why wouldn’t he do an interview if he has nothing to hide

Are you assuming the Biden campaign told the network when to air it?

But he's being used to confuse and smear his father and doing this interview that he had to know would be aired shortly before or after the debate just plays into the GOP's hands and and stomps all over his father's message. I don't see any upside to doing it this way and wish he had waited a few days.

Tue Oct 15, 2019, 01:25 AM

He hadn't done any interviews up until now and no one cared. If he had waited a few days, no one would have cared.

Now he's drawn the spotlight off his father's campaign and debate performance to him and his explanations about how he didn't do anything wrong - and even when you've done nothing wrong, when you're explaining, your losing. He's playing right into Trump's hands.

Tomorrow, no matter how well Biden does, it will all be overshadowed by or juxtaposed with Hunter and Ukraine.

I know some people don't think want to hear anything about Biden except how awesome he is and insist the Bidens can do no wrong, but this is a dumb move on Hunter's part.

I know Biden's supporters jump to defend him from any criticism, but this isn't criticism of him and, even if it were, as great as the Bidens are, they're not perfect and sometimes do dumb things, just like other humans. This is one of those times.

think it is better to get it out now than later.

It reminds me somewhat when Rev. Wright came out with his inflammatory remarks, and President Obama immediately came out and disassociated himself with those remarks, and how a good number here were quite upset that President Obama didn't support Rev. Wrights views.

I think in retrospect it demonstrated that President Obama's decision was the correct one, and addressing it immediately was the correct approach.

While this is about Biden's son, false inferences are being made about Joe Biden, not based on any evidence or facts.

If it is brought up at the debates, I have no doubt he will be able to address it adequately, and in some respects I think getting it all out may be the best.

A sit-down interview is planned; it doesn't just happen. This is either an orchestrated PR activity or Hunter went rogue and did the interview without the Biden team knowing or told the campaign team after it was booked (or didn't give the campaign a heads up at all). These are really the only options.

So these are my questions:

1. Did the Biden campaign decide that Hunter needs to go on the record and then pitched ABC News to conduct the interview?

2. Did Hunter take it upon himself to do the interview and notify the campaign after?

3. If it was planned and recorded, why agree to do the interview before the debate at all?
