Democratic presidential hopefuls Joe Biden and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) saw their net favorability among Democratic primary voters take a dip following the most recent Democratic debate and amid Gabbard's high-profile feud with 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, a new poll has found.
The results of a Morning Consult survey dated Monday show Biden's net favorability slipped 5 percentage points, from 55 percent to 50 percent and Gabbard's dropped 6 percentage points from 10 percent to 4 percent following the fourth Democratic debate last week in Westerville, Ohio.
The net favorability of many other candidates remained relatively stable, as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) saw a 1 percentage point drop, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) saw no change and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) saw a 1 percentage point increase.
South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg saw the largest net favorability increase from 33 percent to 36 percent.

(1,812 posts)Kamala got a huge bump after the first debate when she attacked Biden on his Opposition to mandatory School busing a long time ago ...Then Support for her collapsed - coincident with a huge rise in support for Warren Are 10-12 person Debates really debates ? . In 2007 , commentators often declared Biden the winner of debates held that year ...It didn't do him a whit of good . The voters were only interested in Barack and Hillary ...The rest of them never had a chance

(59,504 posts)For Gabbard, it could be her answer on Syria, her nasty response to HRC or the HRC comment, largely assumed to reference her.
As to Biden, it might be his son's interview that was broadcast that same day. I would have assumed that Joe Biden's response that as President, he would do what he could to prevent relatives of top officials including himself from taking positions that could give the impression of giving access to the US would have helped.
All I can think is that some Democrats wish that either Biden would say - with clarity - that taking that position was wrong, though legal -- with no weasel words suggesting that implied that only retrospect was it seena bad idea. In fact, Chris Heinz, Teresa's son, not only argued against it, but immediately took the steps to sever their business ties - a pretty drastic step.
However, it is very likely that Joe Biden has gone as far as he can on this. This challenges his integrity, but his love and concern for his son might mean he will not say that it was wrong and that he should have personally told his son to step down as soon as he learned of it.

By the way, Trump spoke of his hotel's chocolate cake several times. Should I tell my chocoholic husband we need to pick a different dessert to split?

(59,504 posts)Hunter did. The reason, Joe Biden knew it could be a liability. Note that Hunter has now said he will not be on foreign boards.
My preference for Warren is weak, but mostly based on her strength against corruption. On many issues, especially trade policy and MFA, I disagree. I wish there were a John Kerry clone, about 20 years younger!

I dont think there is anything to "suffer" about, except for the misleading nature of this article.
