Just something to consider (in selecting a candidate during the primary)

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2019/10/22/facts-about-guns-in-united-states/
"...
Partisans are also deeply divided over whether it is more important to control gun ownership or protect gun rights, according to the September survey. Eight-in-ten Republicans say it’s more important to protect the right of Americans to own guns than it is to control gun ownership, while just 21% of Democrats say the same. That 59 percentage point partisan gap is up from a 29-point gap in 2008."
(Emphasis is mine.)

Just a few statistical guesses on my part:
* In the coming election, key will be winning the battleground states. Some of those states are Republican strongholds.
* None of the 21% of Democrats favoring protecting the RKBA over enhanced regulations will vote for trump.
* However, 20% of Republicans with the opposite view may ditch trump and vote for a Dem who they see as serving them.
* A Republican vote against trump is like 2 Democratic votes for a Democratic candidate.

What changes to gun laws, in your opinion, would be most acceptable to a trump hating Republican?

be watered down to attract GOPer votes. It's a mistake. A number of Republicans supported the so-called assault weapon ban in the 1990s.

Nice try, though.

...read the OP again. No where do I suggest watering down anything and just to be clear, I'm asking What new laws or restrictive enhancements to existing laws would be most likely not to alienate a trump hating Republican?

Perhaps some of us would find that information useful during the primaries.

I think red flag laws, waiting periods, and a national registry should do well.

Unfortunately I think the well-meaning assault weapons ban is a loser in the GE. The term is not well defined and unless we focus on specific types of weapons, the generic term will be used against us.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
