Biden on 60 minutes right now:

I am not worried about my legacy. What I am worried about is the country,” Mr. Biden said. “Four years of Donald Trump will be very hard to overcome, but we can. Eight years of Donald Trump will fundamentally change the nature of who we are as a country. And it’ll take a generation, a generation or more for us to get back on track.”

Somehow, all the fine points of Single Payer vs Medicare for All pale in comparison. Our whole nation is in danger.

...to overcome bush, now we're stuck with trump.

Imagine where we could be today if we didn't have just one of those three?

That's some interesting math. And before you say you were talking about the first Bush, note that you aso said a generation between Reagan and Bush. So somewhere in there is at least one extremely short generation. Possibly two.

Bush II...might not be a generation in the legalistic meaning of the word but it is damn close...and the point is taken...we lost in 2000 ...imagine if Gore had won...this is why I will never forgive those Greens who were complicit in electing Bush...Nader-fuck him...then in 2004,the usual suspects went after Kerry during the primary...and of course 2016 where once again the hard left (Greens and other riffraff...destroyed Clinton's chances and we got Trump the would be dictator. If we don't win in 20, I don't know if there will be a progressive movement or even a country left after he leaved if he ever leaves.

Somehow, all the fine points of Single Payer vs Medicare for All pale in comparison. Our whole nation is in danger.

And this cannot be emphasized enough. Because all the policy prescriptions, the promises, etc. take a back seat to saving the frigging country. We're swaying over an abyss, something that Joe Biden is fully aware of and is trying to get everyone's attention focused on.

This is no ordinary election. It's do or die next November. Trump and his criminal enablers are an existential threat. To everyone.

Biden openly ridiculed Trump’s claim that Russian intervention was a hoax. “He’s an idiot — in terms of sayin’ that. Everybody knows this,” Biden responded. “Everybody knows it. Nobody doubts it.” He shrugged off Trump’s attack on his integrity (“It’s comin’ from a man with no integrity”). And as noted above, he flat-out dared Trump to release his taxes: "You want to deal with corruption? Start to act like it. Release your tax returns or shut up.”

Biden also seemed more comfortable and less defensive about his center-left philosophy. He managed to brush off Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s wealth tax proposal and weak tea (“I don’t oppose a wealth tax. I propose changing the whole tax system. The tax I would put on the wealthy will in fact cost more than 2 percent”). He proposed raising capital gains tax rates back to the previous top marginal rate for wages (39.8 percent). And he skewered the credibility of candidates offering Medicare-for-all without showing their math. (“Do you think there’s been any truth in advertising on that? It’s going to raise taxes on middle-class people, not just wealthy people.”)
