Democratic Primaries

After long thought and after talking to my friends in various states, I'm supporting Joe Biden. I'm, at heart, more of a Warren or Sanders, progressive. I supported Bernie in 2016. I love Beto and yearn for a fresh face like Bill Clinton or Barack Obama. That said, Joe Biden will defeat Trump. Period. Joe can win Florida, Arizona, Ohio- he will expand the map. The others, in my opinion, can't. Warren will not win Florida. She just won't. She dosent have to but if you want to end election night early- take Florida. I'm supportive of any nominee and will work relentlessly for any. I want to beat Trump all over the map and Joe can.

(92,422 posts)nominee, we will face a much more difficult uphill climb against Trump than any of our other candidates
The National Polls are extremely misleading, since it is states that elect the President, not the popular vote

(4,178 posts)I want to see Joe on a stage with Barack on one side and Michelle on the other. I want a show that will make trump rallies look like jokes.I want the Obama turnout. I want a landslide.
Go Joe!
( This is what Trump is so scared of that led him to the mess he is in right now with his quid pro quo call)

(8,971 posts)not to mention Russian trolls and social media bots, Comey's misadventures, Wikileaks, a 30-year character assassination campaign, "Crooked" and other projection strategies, normalization of Trump by the media, "Pass the Benghazi torch to Hillary" after it failed to defeat Obama in 2016, increased voter suppression, and unaccounted for discrepancies between exit polling and tabulated results. And yes, strategic miscalculations on the part of the Clinton campaign, taking many of the states comprising the "blue wall" from Pennsylvania to Minnesota for granted while attempting to extend electoral victory to states such as Arizona (now viable). Any Democratic candidate will face a number of similar hurdles next year, and hopefully the errors and oversights made in 2016 will not be repeated.

(4,965 posts)You think Trump isn't going to have a dozen things to throw out against Biden? You don't think "Lock him up" is going to be a chant? Guess again.
We need to convince people to vote based on policy and not "Not that fucking guy." We ran an establishment centrist against Trump and got thumped.

(8,971 posts)I'm all for single-payer coupled with a strategic approach toward legislating and implementing. However, getting thumped over evasiveness regarding cost of health care proposals while tying it (unfairly) to massive middle class tax increases is not a position I hope that our eventual nominee is faced with. As with Ukraine, perception equals reality. The reality that is unfolding with Trump's corrupt Ukraine mess is not working in his (Trump's) favor. The "Lock her/him up" mantra has been audibly turned back on Trump before a huge worldwide audience. Given who has been committing actual crimes in violation of the U.S. Constitution, a third-generation repeat back at Biden (and of course Hillary non-stop as well) would come across as stale and nonsensical as well to all but the most strident MAGAts.

(4,965 posts)Option A: I'm not Trump.
Option B: I want Medicare for All and I'm not Trump.
I'd go option B for attracting more non-Trump supporters. Hint: Option B ain't Biden.

(1,713 posts)Lets face. She was highly qualified but not a good candidate after 25 years of campaigning against her. She lost a low turnout election. South Florida simply did not turn out. It will this time.

(12,265 posts)His young supporters didn't show up the last time to vote, some not even registered. I remember going to one of his rallies and every person I met I asked if they were registered, over half said, "no or not yet". To get this orange stain out of the white house we need someone like Joe.

(47,537 posts)who is not a Democrat, playing the game in the Vermont primaries, has actively campaigned against Democratic candidates, wished for a primary challenge to Obama in 2012.
I wish that he ran as an independent and would force many Democrats to stand up and be counted. Many here went after Stein and after Gabbard for being or considering a third party candidate. Why tolerate him? Some day someone will write an account of how he contributed to our 2016 loss.

(12,265 posts)I mean it, they are like Trump supporters, they are brainwashed into believing he is the only one who can save them. It is terrifying to a degree. We need to be more careful who we allow to run as a Democrat in the future.

(4,558 posts)It's all about the swing states for me that WILL determine who the next POTUS. Whichever candidate of the entire field shows best in those states when matched up against Trump, that's who I'm behind.

(10,842 posts)Though I was not Bernie Sanders' supporter last time out, my support for Biden is all about taking Trump to the woodshed, and doing it with the largest margins possible. The election needs to be a full, indisputable repudiation of Trump and Trumpism. I share your confidence that Joe Biden can and will do that.
Welcome aboard the Joe Train.
