Saturday Night Live Goes After Elizabeth Warren in Cold Open: 'Money Doesn't Exist' (VIDEO)

Video of the cold open at the link:

https://www.mediaite.com/entertainment/saturday-night-live-goes-after-elizabeth-warren-in-cold-open-money-doesnt-exist/

Saturday Night Live was back for another episode tonight, with Kate McKinnon’s portrayal of 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren in full force.

“Look at me, I am in my natural habitat. A public school on the weekend. And I just had a Nature Valley bar in the hallway so I’m jacked up and ready to pop off,” McKinnon said.

The sketch poked fun at Warren herself and made fun of her expensive plans and her inexplicable love of the HBO show Ballers.

She also rolled out an incomprehensible chart to explain the costs of her health care proposal.

“Now we’re talking trillions. So when the numbers are this big, they’re just pretend. They ain’t no scrooge McDuck vault somewhere. You want to get red-pilled? Money doesn’t exist,” McKinnon said, rolling out the chart. “Here. Here’s the math. Do you understand this? I do. I can explain it to you but you would die.”

I stayed away from the news for WEEKS after the election.

I couldn't believe that hatred had won. And that was before I had any idea how bad things would get with Trump.

I cried again watching this. But thanks for posting it. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When I thought that Hillary would win I thought, how will we deal with the hateful, ignorant Trump supporters?

Now I know that there's nothing to do but wait till they die off. By and large, they're irredeemable.

Kate McKinnon’s portrayal of Hillary Clinton on “Saturday Night Live” won her an Emmy Award Sunday night and a shoutout in the former Democratic nominee’s new book about the 2016 presidential election.

As McKinnon took to the stage to accept her award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, ABC News’ Chris Donovan tweeted a page from Clinton’s recently released memoir, What Happened, that mentioned McKinnon’s award-winning portrayal.

“She sat at a grand piano and played ‘Hallelujah,’ the hauntingly beautiful song by Leonard Cohen, who had died a few days before,” Clinton wrote of McKinnon’s cold open on “Saturday Night Live’s” first show after the Nov. 8 election.

“As she sang, it seemed like she was fighting back tears,” Clinton added. “Listening, so was I.”

Clinton included her reaction to McKinnon’s portrayal in the chapter titled “Grit and Gratitude.”

from Warren supporter Paul Krugman, among others.

As for whether the skit went after Warren...I'm seeing an interesting split in opinions on Twitter.

Many Warren supporters, the ones who seem to like her idiosyncrasies, thought it was flattering.

People who don't like Warren's idiosyncrasies found McKinnon's exaggeration of them even more annoying, but in some cases very amusing for being so annoying.

And one Sanders supporter on Twitter thought that SNL having a cold open featuring Warren talking about MFA meant Sanders would be elected. I'll admit I don't follow that reasoning.

Warren has even said it wouldn’t happen in her first term.
