No wonder the other contenders for the nomination are opposed to PACs. They prefer their competition to be hamstrung and crippled and muted. It's easier to attack and smear someone when there aren't advocates who'll "fight back" on his behalf.

I'm all in favor of a level playing field. Rules or allowances that benefit one, should benefit all.

All I'm saying is that it simply makes no sense for any candidate to intentionally tie their hands behind their own back simply for vanity purposes or to have some sort of "bragging rights" when they lose. Winning is everything!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

501(c) "dark money" groups are distinct from super PACs.[31] While both types of entity can raise and spend unlimited sums of money, super PACs "must disclose their donors," while 501(c) groups "must not have politics as their primary purpose but don't have to disclose who gives them money."[31] However, a single individual or group can create both types of entity and combine their powers, making it difficult to trace the original source of funds.[31][32] ProPublica explains: "Say some like-minded people form both a Super-PAC and a nonprofit 501(c)(4). Corporations and individuals could then donate as much as they want to the nonprofit, which isn't required to publicly disclose funders. The nonprofit could then donate as much as it wanted to the Super-PAC, which lists the nonprofit's donation but not the original contributors."[31] In at least one high-profile case, a donor to a super PAC kept his name hidden by using an LLC formed for the purpose of hiding their personal name.[33] One super PAC, that originally listed a $250,000 donation from an LLC that no one could find, led to a subsequent filing where the previously "secret donors" were revealed.[34]

This is what I was talking about, and is something Rudy's henchmen Igor and Lev were engaged in, likely using money from Firtash and the Russian mob.

Democrats shouldn't play Republican games, they should expose and fight them.

I prefer to have a candidate that wins. Level playing field and all that.

I also prefer a politician who's willing to find common ground and seek compromise as long as it means that SOME progress is being made. Progress. Even incremental is still progress.

There are many politicians (and their supporters) who take a bizarre sense of pride in a "no compromise" philosophy (as if it's a bad thing) and who believe that NO LOAF is better than finding common ground and coming home with half-a-loaf.

Not taking money from these sources is a matter of principle, not vanity.
Yes, it's vanity for someone to intentionally choose to lose (or to come home with nothing). As if "look how pure I am" is any sort of consolation for "we lost" or "I refused to make a deal so therefore we get nothing".

All I'm saying is that candidates who choose to cripple themselves (and those who support crippled campaigns) pretty much get what they deserve. If that's what they want to do, let them. The candidate and campaign that I support will be one who knows how to win and who doesn't give an unnecessary advantage to the competition for vanity or "purity" reasons. Winning is everything.
