White House hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) fired back at JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon on Tuesday after he castigated her for using rhetoric that he said "vilifies successful people."
It's really simple: Jamie Dimon and his buddies are successful in part because of the opportunities, workforce, and public services that we all paid for. It's only fair that he and his billionaire friends chip in to make sure everyone else has a chance to succeed, Warren tweeted.
The fact that they've reacted so stronglyso angrily!to being asked to chip in more tells you all you need to know. The system is working great for the wealthy and well-connected, and Jamie Dimon doesn't want that to change. I'm going to fight to make sure it works for everyone.

Warren, a staunch progressive, has cast her campaign as an effort to reign in financial excess from large corporations and curtail income and wealth inequities across the country. Her proposals, including calling for a wealth tax on individuals making over $50 million, has earned her scorn from corporate executives.

(6,831 posts)There is an excellent book that came out a few years ago (2016), titled: "Chain of Title," by David Dayen, one of the foremost financial journalists in the country today. It is brilliantly written, superbly researched and will enrage and infuriate you. He unravels the criminal enterprise that cratered the US economy and ruined lives. He rips the layers of obfuscation off Dimon and the greedy white collar criminals just like him who created the massive injustice the enabled financial institutions to STEAL homes and destroy families.
An excellent read if you can stomach the facts that led to this and how these CEOs escaped with impunity.
These are the people currently savaging Elizabeth Warren.

(6,831 posts)You will find yourself wanting to throw the book against the wall. it took me three times of starting and stopping before I could finally finish it. When you see just how much these white-color criminals got away with, how many times judges and courts, which did not fully comprehend the full scope of what has happening all across this country, allowed then to walk. It will enrage you.
The only reason we read the book was because we had a family member going through this nightmare. And the Feds were no help because half of them did not understand the full measure of the law. And the judges were worse. These were - intentionally - intricate cases, which would have required law students to go hard-core study on and no body was at that stage yet. So far too many people got screwed.
Good luck
