Big gender disparities for the incumbent*, Bernie, Mayor Pete, Andrew Yang, and of all people Tulsi Gabbard. And a minor one for Joe. And in no case is there a significant gender disparity that's female dominated -- all of those cases are male-dominated.

I know two Gabbard fans -- one is a progressive who seems to have bought into a lot of pro-Putin crap, and the other is a former democrat who likes Gabbard as a fallback if he can't vote for Trump.

"... itemized through ActBlue."
The headline doesn't make that distinction. There ARE other ways for candidates to receive donations, right?

For a brief moment I thought that maybe someone had been itemizing just the "girl names" (or any that might be like "Pat" or "Chris" etc.). --- I wonder if something like that would work for Latino surnames. I don't know how reliable it would be, however.

I think being asked for either would be illegal.

The claims here are purely speculative, and way off base. Sometimes I wonder the point of posts like that.

When candidates receive contributions from people, they submit a form or detailed information. There is NO place in any of the forms for them to provide their gender.

This is pure speculation. I'm guessing they're making judgement about the first name of contributors, which is highly flawed at best.

Plus, that chart in the tweet is for total $, not # of contributors. Even if true, but of course it's not, he's received $61.4 million, $17.1 is only 27%, not "about 40%" being claimed.

Swing and a miss, strike three, Annie is OUT!

Note on Methodology: The analyses below only use fundraising information made public by the Federal Election Commission. We code by hand gender neutral names. Campaigns are not required to itemize donations that total $200 or less, however, the Democratic online fund-raising platform ActBlue itemizes all donations raised through their platform. This gives us access to donor demographic information of Democratic small-dollar contributions given through ActBlue as of June 30. All of the candidates' large-dollar contributions are from donors whose aggregate totals have surpassed $200 this calendar year as of September 30. We do not have donor demographic information for Republican small-dollar contributions, as they don’t bring in the bulk of their contributions from a similar online fundraising service. More on Methodology here.
