Bloomberg is not setting himself up to win the Democratic primary.

His job, in the likely event of failing to secure the nomination is to run as a third party candidate to peel votes off of Warren (or Sanders) to keep them from getting elected.

He's in it to help his billionaire buddies sleep easy at night.

Or is my hat on too tight?

2. Republicans will vote Bloomberg

Republicans and independents will vote for Bloomberg over Trump, hands down. So many despise Trump, and fear what another Trump term might do.
As DEMs, we all cried and staggered in disbelief when they shut DU down on election night and stole 2016. (I was working with Verified Voter advocates and we were fearful in advance of which larger precincts in Wisconsin, Michigan and PA that the Pubs could flip using Francois Chochettes size/precinct vote flipping research)
Folks, every candidate has policies we like and policies we question. Every Dem candidate so far has incredible strengths and some weaknesses, and any of these excellent candidates would make a wonderful President. The only problem is “ can they prevail in the General Election?
We can’t afford to be purists here. The future of the United States and our Democracy depends on defeating Trump,( not whether a candidate supported “Stop and Frisk” or for that matter supported Clarence Thomas nomination process so brutally unfair to Anita Hill!)
Please remember here on DU, we don’t always consider how the rest of the country might react.
Let’s look at who can win the general election- that is really all that matters. Peace, Hannah

before they'd vote for Trump. Outside of our bubble, GOPers still love Trump. More importantly, let's nominate someone who's actually qualified for the presidency and isn't just trying to buy it to satisfy his ego. We've seen that movie already.

Trump is tanking but no guarantee that he will not run for re-election,
even as a Third Party self if the Rs throw him out. Dem centrists are at best
50/50 on getting the nomination. $$$ Is worried. BTW, the whole your a
conspiracy theorist in its various guises is used to dump on sensible thinking
and questioning and lumping it in with black helicopters nonsense.

10. Is He Running A Southern Strategy

By filing in Alabama? Does he see himself peeling off southern delegates while others split up the northern delegates? Hard to see how he would be able to unify the ticket for the November election. Indeed, he brings nothing to the field of Democratic candidates.

Lastly, he is too damn old to be running.
