@ConnieSchultz
1/ First, a disclosure: I first knew Elizabeth Warren as my husband's colleague in the U.S. Senate. She & I have had some brief, meaningful conversations over the last few years, but I would not presume to describe us as friends.
And yet.
2/ After my brother's suicide in July, Elizabeth Warren texted. Then she called. And then she wrote a personal note of support.
This was during one of the darkest times of my life, and I had no intention of sharing this publicly.
Until now, in response to recent coverage.
3/ This is not an endorsement of Elizabeth Warren the candidate, but an affirmation of who I know her to be. Anyone falsely casting her as angry & antagonistic is telegraphing the limits of their minds, & the magnitude of their insecurities.
4/ Women have always known that kindness is part of our strength, and that this confounds those who think we have to choose. Its our not-so-secret power, and it worries only those who think theyre going to stand in our way.

Yup, just how the Greedy One Percent (GOP) will try to paint her. I can hear now.

(7,277 posts)they reach into their trove of misogyny to find the 'right' words. Hillary has a big hearty laugh, so her opponents labeled it a cackle.

(48,975 posts)This is also the sort of thing Biden does frequently, and it's one reason I admire him so much. (He even gives out his cell number to people he's just met who are grieving and tells them to call him any time, which I still find amazing.)
It's good to hear about this moving example of Warren's kindness.
I agree completely with Connie Schultz that kindness is a part of strength.
But as a woman I do think it's important to point out that not only women understand that. Men can understand it just as well.
