Comedian for VP

Hillary's defeat started with her choice of Tim Kaine as her VP. Tim is a fine person but he was even dryer then Hillary and lost to Pence in the VP debate. Democrats need to be thinking aggressively in 2020 and need a strong attack dog in VP. Choosing another dry politician for VP could be catastrophic. I suggest going outside convention and choosing a comedian (or at least in that genre of skills). If either of Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Samatha Bee, Seth Meyers et al would be available. I think they would be killer at counter attacking Trump's antics.

primary today, I would vote for:

Love Ted Lieu! I've posted so many of his tweets here at DU, usually in GD. And he'd be a great VP! highplainsdem Nov 2019 #3

Trump's strategy is win-through-spectacle. He ridicules his opponents, people laugh, and vote for the court jester. An actual comedian would run circles around Trump. One debate with a guy like Jim Jeffries and Trump would be fucking toast.

The problem is not many comedians spend their off-hours pouring over policy. So, I would suggest running a comedian as a figurehead president and a wonkish VP to be the power behind the scenes.

I still think we'll see Biden-Klobuchar. It caters a lot to 2016's midwestern inattention, but I do think the VP choice should bring something to the Electoral College aspect of winning.

Tim Kaine was a good, solid pick. He had the qualifications to step in if Clinton couldn't do the job. We need competent, intelligent leaders, not someone who can amuse the population. Another example of the cheapening and dumbing down of government. Let's leave the entertainment to the tv box and adequately and competently governing our nation in a scary world to the professionals.

Kaine was just way too milquetoast to inspire anyone to care about him. Plus, to center-left candidates doesn't help broaden appeal.

and seal the deal with elements of the base where the candidate can use some help. Kaine was a bad choice because he did neither.

Looking at Warren, she could use a younger, non-white man on the ticket. Booker or dare I say Yang.
