Just a gentle reminder that if we lived in a real democracy where the majority rules,

we would have a intelligent, proven leader running the country, no matter what Russia, DJT, and the GOP tried to do (and accomplished) to interfere with our election. We must have electoral college reform.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think we need a uniformed set of laws covering all Americans when it comes to voting on the federal level

3. I agree on the federal level. However, I think that individual states want their autonomy

and will not easily give it up. So how is this going to work in elections that include state level referendums?

5. The national popular vote compact will do just that - eliminate the EC.

Here's a link: https://www.nationalpopularvote.com/state-status

And an excerpt from the link, which has a nice map.

The National Popular Vote bill will take effect when enacted into law by states possessing 270 electoral votes (a majority of the 538 electoral votes). It has been enacted into law in 16 jurisdictions possessing 196 electoral votes, including 5 small jurisdictions (DC, DE, HI, RI, VT), 8 medium-sized states (CO, CT, MD, MA, NJ, NM, OR, WA), and 3 big states (CA, IL, NY).

The bill will take effect when enacted by states possessing an additional 74 electoral votes.

The National Popular Vote bill has now passed a total of 40 state legislative chambers in 24 states. It has also passed at least one legislative chamber in 8 states possessing 75 electoral votes (AR, AZ, ME, MI, MN, NC, NV, OK). It has been unanimously approved at the committee level in 2 states possessing 27 more electoral votes (GA, MO). The National Popular Vote bill has been introduced in various years in all 50 states.

If enough states pass it, we will circumvent the EC.

Do we will still need to convince people that it will not effect their state and local elections laws, which need to be fixed, but that is another issue?

So far, it's been picking up the low hanging fruit. The battleground States you'll need to hit 270 EV aren't likely to pass it.
