FAIRFIELD, Ia. The U.S. can have affordable health care and college education without chasing "pie-in-the-sky" ideas, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock said Monday at a presidential campaign stop in Fairfield.
Bullock, a Democrat, challenged opponents' proposals for free college tuition and a "Medicare for All" single-payer health-care system. The initiatives are signature pieces of the Democratic presidential campaigns of U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
"There are parts of this thing that aren't just pie in the sky they're building a whole bakery up there," said Bullock, who supports offering a public option while keeping private health insurance.
Bullock said senators can talk about initiatives, while governors must deliver.

(1,713 posts)although more moderate than me is a very attractive candidate who would do very well. My conservative and liberal family and friends in Montana love him. He is in the mold of Bill Clinton. Bill would be scoffed at in today's party. Let's face It- some of the ideas discusses are "pie in the sky" that will never materialize even if Sanders or Warren become President. Neither will so moot point. Steve makes a good point.
