I shook Elizabeth Warren's hand today... and took a selfie!

She held a rally today at Clark Atlanta University. Her speech was about the resilience and important contributions of black women in the United States. Oh, and EW was introduced by Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley!!! Ayanna was awesome as well, especially when a group of protesters tried to disrupt and shout down Warren. Ayanna returned to the stage and was able to calm the protesters down without having them removed from the gymnasium (which is great because there didn't appear to be a mechanism in place to remove them anyway).

After the rally, everyone had to wait while EW took time out to speak with the protesters (privately) to address their concerns. After that, EW as usual, stuck around to take a selfie with every single person who wanted one. And that appeared to be everybody. There were families that went up as a group, and they would take turns posing individually and as a group with Warren. I must say, Warren's patience is incredible. I could not do it.

When it was my turn, I said hi, shook her hand and she noticed my impeachment shirt. She said, in almost a promising way, "it's gonna get done." I'm still smiling about that moment.

Now I'm wondering if the Senate might actually remove trump???

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Isn't it unreal to shake the hand of someone so amazing, so articulate and intelligent, who's running to be our President?

I felt the same when I shook Pete Buttigieg's hand! A staffer took our photo with my phone! Astonishing!

that the only photo I have of myself with a politician was one taken with Kenny Hahn circa 1975-76 when I was a senior in high school.

Remember Kenny Hahn? LOL.

Glad you are more up-to-date than me.

And now his daughter Janice is on our Board of County Supervisors! I've met her, but that was before I was into photos.

I may be more up-to-date than you........but I'm also a LOT older! Oh well.

this report. I know that you will savor your selfie!

I love that Pressley was able to calm the protesters and that Elizabeth took time out to speak with them afterwards.

What were they protesting about?

*********
Eta: OK, I saw what they were protesting about in other OPs so you don't need to reply to my question. And yes, I support Warren's stand on charter schools.

shouting or why. Other attendees began shouting "Warren" and/ or "Let her speak!" to drown out the protesters. This went on a couple times until Ayanna got back on stage and told the protesters that EW was in the middle of sharing an important story from black women's history that many people in the audience may not have heard before and that the protesters were blocking the audience from learning that history (I'm paraphrasing her words).

By the way, Warren was speaking about the Atlanta Washerwomen, who formed a Union and went on strike in 1881.

In the end, the strike not only raised wages—it, more importantly, established laundresses—and all black women workers—as instrumental to the New South’s economy. The white establishment was forced to acknowledge that black women workers, who were former slaves, were not invisible.
