I fly less than most anyone I know because I don't have money to pay for it and I'm jealous of their fun vacations. A cross country round trip flight to watch a debate is well outside the realm of possibilities for me. But I can also use climate change as an excuse.

Air travel is a huge contributor to climate change. A new global movement wants you to be ashamed to fly.
Greta Thunberg gave up flights to fight climate change. Should you?

Though sometimes it is necessary, I would really rather not. And like you it's not a decision I have to worry about that often

When I do fly it's usually because I have to travel for work and I spend almost the whole time wondering how many of the people flying really have to be flying and can't these businesses find more efficient ways of doing business. I know we've spent tens of thousands of dollars on video conference systems so imo we shouldn't be flying executives around for meetings, EVER.

Sorry it's just a real sore spot for me. Even unnecessary driving pisses me off. I've been like this since the 90's, lecturing my friends anytime the concept of 'joy rides' came up.

I'm super fun at parties. 😁

Knowing what we now know, anyone contemplating a flight should ask themselves if their trip is worth using up more of our carbon budget. Could you book that flight and then look someone from the Marshall Islands in the eye?
