Rep. Hakeem Jeffries welcomes Bloomberg to 'more the merrier' Democratic presidential race

[link:https://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ny-hakeem-jeffries-interview-daily-news-20191126-qhmjecxfznhufaacg7634sgugu-story.html|

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries once led the fight against Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s signature “stop and frisk” policing policy.

But the Democratic rising star from Brooklyn says he’s now willing to give the billionaire a second chance as a presidential hopeful.

“The more the merrier,” Jeffries told the Daily News Editorial Board on Tuesday. “His entry into the race, from my standpoint, is a welcome development, because he’s got a track record to run on.”

Jeffries said Bloomberg would have to show he can “walk the walk” when it comes to moving past his apology for stop-and-frisk and other problematic policies he championed during his GOP-friendly tenure in Gracie Mansion.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Bloomberg may not be your type of Denocrat, but he’s in the mainstream of the Democratic Party.

The candidates we have are all great, we don't need another straight white billionaire in the race. How are we supposed to unite a broad coalition of people of color/LGBTQ/marginalized identities under somebody like him?

5. Why we have a very crowded democratic primary field

It is not difficult to understand why a lot of candidates are jumping in to the Democratic primary. It is not because they are afraid that Trump will be re-elected. It is more like, ANYBODY, will beat him.

Take a look at the 3 so-called battleground states (PA, WI & MI) that handed Trump a victory, where he walked away with a total of 77,744 votes ahead of HRC (PA 44,292, WI 22,748 and MI 10,704).

But during the 2018 midterm blue wave, the democrats outvoted the GOP in these states by a margin of 1,022,448. AZ also went blue and erased the 91,234 deficit with a 39,942 win. What is interesting is the very large winning margin by which the counties in these states had flipped from red to blue. You can detect a sense of enthusiasm if not outrage in the polling booths there.

The total electoral votes from the blue states now total 290

I think Pelosi's decision to move ahead with the impeachment is partly because she wanted to maintain the enthusiasm of those who flipped to blue during the midterm.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
