Vox: "She fantasizes being raped by 3 men": Bernie Sanders's bizarre 1972 essay on gender

We have seen many posts going deep into the history of Joe Biden's voting record or stories about Bernie supporters attacking Elizabeth Warren for not registering as a Democrats several decades ago. But what about Bernie? There is still precious little vetting of Bernie went it comes to his pro-Russia, anti-NATO record, his anti-immigration views, or his pro-gun votes. Indeed, it is odd that Tulsi is hated even though she has virtually identical views with Bernie, and has long been a strong Bernie supporter.

There is a great reluctance to vet Bernie. Is it because like Trump, Bernie has push the idea that he is a victim of media bias, thus any actual effort to vet Bernie is portrayed as an example of media bias? Yet, Bernie's votes and statements are often ignored. For example, here is a Vox story noting essays written by Bernie about rape fantasies.

https://www.vox.com/2015/5/28/8682503/bernie-sanders-rape-fantasy

In case the text is tough to read, here are the opening paragraphs:

A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy. A woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused.

A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously.

The man and woman get dressed up on Sunday — and go to Church, or maybe to their "revolutionary" political meeting.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I thought perhaps you were being sarcastic in some way, along the lines of claiming you don't recall it being discussed before.

Because you can also include usernames in search queries like this:

nursejackie sanders raped site:democraticunderground.com

Which shows that the username NurseJackie has actually participated in numerous threads which discuss the very thing that username NurseJackie now alleges not to recall having been discussed before.

Hence, a reasonable observer might conclude that the purpose is simply to keep kicking this one, and that the lack of recollection of the subject was disingenuous.

For example, in this thread:

Bernie's rape fantasy essay is not old enough history and is Republican fodder

Thank you!

Bernie will weather this just fine, as he has for decades.
He's never successfully run for national office in all those decades either. This will prove to be just one of many obstacles that continues to block him from being able to effectively defeat candidates on the national stage.

Every... every aspect of every candidate's life is fair game.

70. This, from just about six months ago:
Thu Nov 28, 2019, 05:40 PM
Nov 2019
"If you open the borders, my God, there's a lot of poverty in this world, and you're going to have people from all over the world. And I don't think that's something that we can do at this point. Can't do it."

That's not the first time he expressed an opinion like that, nor is it the worst thing he said.

There's this interview with Lou Dobbs when he was on CNN (before this gets bashed since Dobbs is now with Fox), bashing Democrats, bashing Harry Reid, and bashing Ted Kennedy:

https://www.vox.com/2016/2/12/10981234/bernie-sanders-lou-dobbs

DOBBS: Senator, this is a tortured process that Senator Harry Reid is directing, aided and abetted by the so-called grand bargainers. Do you expect this thing to survive cloture?

SANDERS: It's hard to say at this point. It really is. I hope very much that in its present form it does not survive. I think it needs a lot more work on it, especially looking at the economic implications of these guest worker programs.

DOBBS: You know, as we look at these numbers, they're absolutely startling. President Bush, you've looked at these numbers just as I have. The president is doing horribly. Only Nixon on the verge of impeachment had a lower approval rating than George W. Bush who has now the lowest approval ratings of his presidency. But Congress, 14 percent approval in the Gallup poll, the lowest in just about 35 years.

Is there any sense amongst your colleagues in the Senate, there in Washington, that it is time for people to begin to represent their constituents rather than these special interests, corporate interests ...

SANDERS: You've got it. And that's exactly the situation and of course there is concern on at least some of our parts. The reality is that I think a growing number of Americans understand that what happens in Congress is to a very significant degree dictated by big money interests.

And these guys are basing their - their whole ideology is based on greed. They're selling out American workers and in fact they're selling out our entire country and that is a major struggle that we have got to engage in to take back our country from these very powerful and wealthy special interests.

And:

SANDERS: I read something today that a lot of people coming into this country are coming in as lifeguards. I guess we can't find - that's right. We can't American workers to work as lifeguards. And the H1B program has teachers, elementary school teachers. Well, you know.

DOBBS: And that H1B program, we got to watch Senator Ted Kennedy watch there with the sole witness being one Bill Gates, the world's richest man, telling him he wanted unlimited H1B visas, obviously uninformed to the fact that seven out of 10 visas under the H1B program goes to Indian corporations that are outsourcing those positions to American corporations in this country and that four out of five of those jobs that are supposed to be high-skilled jobs are actually category one jobs which is low skill.

SANDERS: Well, you raise a good point, in that this whole immigration guest worker program is the other side of the trade issue. On one hand you have large multinationals trying to shut down plants in the America, move to China and on the other hand you have the service industry bringing in low wage workers from abroad. The result is the same — middle class gets shrunken and wages go down.

https://www.tabletmag.com/scroll/191337/bernie-sanderss-1972-essay-man-and-woman

It's about the changing roles of men and women in 1972. It actually tells us very little about Sanders except that he wasn't a very good writer.

...perhaps not, considering who is in the WH now--an odious traitor, racist, mysogynistic white nationalist kkknazi supporter accused by over 20 women of sexual assault including a woman who was 13 yrs old at the time said he [trump] raped her...so there's that. Regardless, I will vote for anyone who is the democratic presidential candidate, down ballot candidates as well!

He says "In the beginning there were strong men who killed the animals and brought home the food -- and the dependent women who cooked it. ... Only the roles remain -- waiting to be shaken off." Apparently Bernie's idea of human history came from episodes of "The Flintstones."

It's weird.

The media didn't hit this very hard last time around because they didn't expect him to win, but if he gets the nomination this will be the ONLY thing they will discuss about him from that point until election day. Its basically a magic bullet.

And there's plenty more where that came from (e.g., naked kids running around and touching each other, lack of sex causes cancer, etc.).

Lucky for us, there's virtually zero chance that Sanders will be our nominee.

108. "Women, for their own preservation, are trying to pull themselves together.
Fri Nov 29, 2019, 11:18 AM
Nov 2019
And it's necessary for all of humanity that they do so."

snip==================================================================================

And Men. Men are in pain too. They are thinking, wondering. What is it they want from a woman? Are they at fault? Are they perpetrating this man-woman situation? Are they oppressors?

The man is bitter.

"You lied to me," he said. (She did).

snip==================================================================================

"But in reality," he said, "If you ever loved me, or wanted me, or needed me (all of which I'm not certain was ever true), you also hated me. You hated me — just as you have hated every man in your entire life, but you didn't have the guts to tell me that. You hated me before you ever saw me, even though I was not your father, or your teacher, or your sex friend when you were 13 years old, or your husband. You hated me not because of who I am, or what I was to you, but because I am a man. You did not deal with me as a person — as me. You lived a lie with me, used me and played games with me — and that's a piggy thing to do."

- Women are trying to pull themselves together, but they need to do a better job for the sake of all humanity.
- Women lie to men.
- Women don't have the guts to tell the truth.
- Women live lies and play games.
- Women do piggy things.

This almost reads like something an incel or an MRM proponent would write on a reddit message board.

finally voting for the first time for himself in his lost-before-they-began VT races.

He's always bizarrely insisted there's no real difference between the liberal and conservative parties, not just at most of his appearances these days.

So, when rabidly racist conservative leaders were siccing dogs on civil rights workers and egalitarian liberal leaders were sending the National Guard to integrate schools, Sanders saw no difference that justified voting for one or the other.

When "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" George Wallace ran against Lyndon Johnson of the Civil rights act of 1964, Sanders saw no difference important enough for him to stand for or against.

And in 1972, when unmarried Sanders was writing about rape fantasy and advice to married couples in the middle of Watergate, as always he was saying it didn't really matter if Nixon/Republicans were reelected because the alternative was just the Democrats. Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dee as he referred to the choice in 1986, when the Republicans solidified their opposition to the Democrats' efforts to fight climate change.

“Every American citizen must have an equal right to vote. There is no reason which can excuse the denial of that right. There is no duty which weighs more heavily on us than the duty we have to ensure that right. … It is wrong—deadly wrong—to deny any of your fellow Americans the right to vote in this country.

There is no issue of states rights or national rights. There is only the struggle for human rights.”

—President Lyndon B. Johnson, from The Voting Rights Act Address

That was a matter of principle because back in the 1970s, when Sanders did, he and I could both find jobs and not have to, even if the immediately available jobs weren't what we wanted.

Unlike Sanders, I had a history of holding steady jobs and paying into a system I believed in, a safety net to protect people who couldn't get a job right away from crashing, emphatically not those who just didn't want to.

And, btw, I've also never stolen anything from anyone. Sanders did as an alternative to getting a job so he could pay his bill and get the power turned back on. But to this day Sanders thinks he's far more moral than I am. If that's not delusional enough, he also insists I'm not much different from Republicans.

“He was living in the back of an old brick building, and when he couldn’t pay the [electric bill], he would take extension cords and run down to the basement and plug them into the landlord’s outlet,” says Nancy Barnett, an artist who lived next door to Sanders in Burlington. The fridge was often empty, but the apartment was littered with yellow legal pads filled with Sanders’ writings. When he was eventually evicted, Sanders moved in with his friend Sugarman.

That's something I've also never done, not the moving in with someone because I was evicted for not paying my rent or the bad parting with someone who'd carried me when I wouldn't support myself.

If this sounds personal, it is. His constant insults to me are personal and taken as such. He believes them, but that hardly excuses him.

when he managed to get elected to congress. And he's never let it go, even though what he's had to do to keep it has meant 28 years of reliably badmouthing his colleagues and legislation written by them, then reliably voting for it, and then reliably returning to badmouthing them and it.

Wash, rinse, repeat for almost 3 cushy decades of betraying his passionately anti-Democratic Party views. And he's still not there when his son needs his support. Not my kind of morality.

And I consider myself well informed. Imagine how little the average voter knows about this. The fact is that as much as Sanders complains about not getting media attention, he's really benefited from that as he didn't get any scrutiny from the media and Hillary also treated him with kid gloves to try and keep the party together.
