Bernie Sander's new hire Darius Khalil Gordon.

Either you believe Bernie does not vet his hires at all which is completely incompetent and should be taken as how he will vet his cabinet should he be President or you believe these hires have been vetted and this is completely on purpose. Neither option is good.

This thread shows screenshots of his homophobic, misogynist, antisemitic tweets.

Bernie has always been all about "economic justice.' That's his thing. It's a very important thing, of course, but it's not the only important thing out there, nor it is it a zero sum game.

Bernie Sanders has a very narrow view of things, it has always seemed to me. He thinks he can build support from people of color simply by telling them he'll make their economic life better. That's his white privilege talking. He thinks women will do better if they have "economic justice." That's his male privilege talking.

What he focuses on is important, but it's not all that, really. In fact, for many people, social justice is the most important thing of all. Bernie doesn't recognize that, so he loses the support of that group of people.

That's why he won't be the Democratic nominee in 2020. It's really simple.

I Googled the source for this story and it is the Washington Free Beacon, the same site that sells an Eric Swalwell whoopee cushion. I believe we are not supposed to cite such sources at this site. However, the Tweets stand on their own, but this is the only outlet carrying this story so I am suspicious. As you know, this is a r-w site.

This person is claiming he is the deputy director of constituency communications, but how can a deputy be hired when there is no person in that position to be a deputy to? The position of Constituency Communications Coordinator is open at the Sanders job listings section at his web site: https://boards.greenhouse.io/bernie2020

This is the definition of "deputy": "Deputy is used in combination with the names of various executive officers, to denote an assistant empowered to act in their name; as, deputy collector, deputy ..."

So I reiterate: how can he be a deputy when that position is not yet filled? There is no one to "act in their name," meaning being a constituency communications coordinator.

This person refers to a full-time job "Been so busy with work forgot to tell you all. I have joined the @SenSanders
2020 campaign as the Deputy Director of Constituency Organizing."

I suspect that what we have here is a person who volunteered.

Do all the campaigns, including the Biden campaign, vet volunteers?

This story doesn't add up.

I will await further word from the Sanders campaign before I buy into this. Even if he was selected as a volunteer, I doubt that he will be given any work to do with the kind of attitudes he's expressed in his Tweets.

I said the only people carrying it as a story is a r-w site. How did you find the Tweet? Through the story or are you just browsing Twitter and you just happened to come across it?

I also said the posts stand on their own. The meaning is clear.

Fri Dec 6, 2019, 07:38 PM

whoever first discovered them is irrelevant.

All you are doing is trying to deflect a legitimate criticism of the Sanders campaign by attacking the source of the discovery. And, IMO, the fact that the original discovery may have been made by a right-wing site makes it worse, not better.

If the campaign knew about the tweets, they were reprehensible; if they didn't know, they were incompetent.

I only posted a press reference because that can sometimes speak to the credibility of the story.

There's a "clear pattern" here and it doesn't have to do with Bernie's hiring practices. It has to do with you reading material into posts and making assumptions that aren't there. This is taught in school, and even though you call yourself "old", I'm sure it was taught in your day. It falls under "critical thinking."

He was not a volunteer, he was a hire. No doubt all campaigns have seedy volunteers sometimes but this is not the case here. Bernie does have a history of this. I think this is the 4th campaign hire that was let go after public opposition to what they have said or wrote i the past. It's fair to ask.. Will he fill agencies with unqualified people without vetting them just because they're loyalist? It's a fair question.
