(34,661 posts)CNFN back in the day. Old Lou came off as a total Hypocrite who would say anything for a buck. Much like his co talent Larry Kudlow. Always assumed they shared the same Blow supplier.

(47,419 posts)and he was relatively sane back then. He was even critical of the Bush administration when very few cable news people were. Now it would appear, he was always just a performer doing and saying whatever got ratings. Cracks me up that he dyes his hair now!

(45,068 posts)and illegal immigrants work for less money and that hurt Americans. That's automatic proof that Bernie is anti- immigrant!!! Along with a whole lot of other people who know how illegal immigration works on the labor market.

(58,785 posts)Sanders has been waffling big time in THIS era, not just back then, about immigrants and about minority issues because he's a socialist leading a populist campaign.
Populists want progressive programs for themselves, AND a majority of populists (not all) are at least somewhat socially conservative. Remember Sanders over on Fox trolling for Trump's populists? There are a lot of them in these troubled times, and not all rabidly racist by any means, more like racist lite.
Sanders is trying to draw those disillusioned with the orange clown's promise to destroy the ACA and give them a much better program for cheaper. By promising the same thing.
That also explains why Sanders has famously always refused to commit to addressing AA concerns. He has to walk a careful line there -- talk liberal enough not to look unsupportive on racial issues, while constantly reassuring his social conservatives, who at best don't really care for immigrants or minorities, that he's an angry, resentful populist like them. And you have to admit he does carry that off very believably. In any case, AA, also famously, are much too smart not to see what he's doing.

(45,068 posts)"Pretend laughing doesn't make Sanders' populism not real." Not a damn thing to do with what the outrage of the moment is. The clip was Dobbs talking about Illegal immigrants and Bernie talking about HB-1 visas.
One and done.

(2,061 posts)Please understand this. Sanders worked his ass off to block a pathway to citizenship claiming it was because of Visas. Visas that were secured a short time after immigration reform failed.
A perfect example of the brutality of politics of purity.
