Joe Biden Doubles Down On Heated Town Hall Where He Called Voter A Liar

https://www.npr.org/2019/12/07/785749848/biden-doubles-down-on-heated-town-hall-where-he-called-voter-a-damn-liar

Voters say they felt Biden's tone was off-putting, especially from a candidate who talks a lot about restoring civility. Biden argues he was just telling it like it is.

"That's not civil?" Biden said. "To call someone who lied a liar?"

One woman, Mary Clark, who is 94, told NPR before a Biden event Friday in Elkader, Iowa, that she was "so disappointed in Biden. That is not the Joe I know. He sounded like Donald Trump in that clip."

Like Joe was the student to Obama? One of the reasons Joe was on the ticket was because of his vast foreign policy and legislative to offset Obama's inexperience. He is his own person, not an apprentice to Barack Obama.

Democrats need to start calling out lies in real time, before they take root. If Biden flew off the handle all the time, then I'd say it was a problem, but he was right to get angry when someone attacks his integrity and his family.

14. I think Joe did a great job; screw the media
Sun Dec 8, 2019, 07:11 PM
Dec 2019

I'm so tired of the zeitgeist that's been prevalent for the past twenty plus years
(actively aided and abetted by the mainstream media) that while Republicans can
spew insults, invectives, profanity and threats to their heart's content, can play dirty
tricks to the fullest extent that they want, but that Democrats/progressives have to
be bound by the most strict standards of restraint, fairness, and civility. Even worse,
a lot of prominent Democrats have internalized this.

The writer(s) of that NPR article, it seems, had enforcement of that objective in mind,
and went out of their way to find people who were "so disappointed."

I've long held the conviction that among the reasons Republicans have been so much more
successful than they should be, given their horrible ideas, is their image of relentlessness
aggressiveness. So many of Trump's followers have pointed out how much they like his
attitude, his "alpha male" brashness.

It is Democrats' perceived instinct to not fight, but always be on the defensiveness, to always
back down, on the other hand, that I think has held them back.

How is what Joe did any different than what Nancy Pelosi (a true bad ass) did to that reporter.
I've replayed the videos of both those encounters numerous times and am giddy each time.
I want more Democrats to start rolling up their sleeves and doing the same thing, We've tried
restraint, fairness, and civility long enough, and look where it's gotten us. Barack Obama,
the best President in my lifetime, extended his hand to Republicans/conservative time after time,
only to have them spit in it.

Enough.

What Joe did is a strong indication that he has what it takes to take on Trump, and I hope he
keeps it up. I'm coming to respect him more and more.

Republicans have been setting Democrats up for years, knowing they will try to be reasonable, often apologizing when there is no need. Always being on the defensive makes Dems look weak and often guilty. No one wants leaders who are angry and aggressive all the time, but they do want leaders who will stand up for what is right and not back down.

One woman, Mary Clark, who is 94, told NPR before a Biden event Friday in Elkader, Iowa, that she was "so disappointed in Biden. That is not the Joe I know. He sounded like Donald Trump in that clip."

Biden wholly dismissed that comparison. "Donald Trump, he makes fun of people. He belittles people. He lies. I don't do any of those things. Period."

Dec 2019

Which includes Trump's bottom of the barrel supporters. I remember John McCain defending Obama when a voter called him a "Muslim" in a very derogatory manner. You will never see that with Trump.

I'm not suggesting Biden start insulting POW's, or mocking the disabled, or calling women dogs, pigs or horse face. But damn it, it felt so good to see Biden get angry and defend himself. What is it with Democrats? it's like we always have to walk on eggshells and worry about offending anyone, and if we should, an apology is not enough. While Trump comes out with anything he feels like saying and his supporters love it..."because he is honest", or as my cousin a Trump supporter says: "No one is perfect." Yeah, that's how she defends him.

I'm glad Joe got angry and called that trump supporter a liar, and I love Joe's new ad. I've seen a lot of positive feedback, Joe came as strong and ready to fight. Joe is a civil man, but I think like anyone, there's a line you don't cross.

Sorry about the 94 year old woman being upset, or any one else but the times are changing. If you are going up against Trump and his supporters you better know how to give it right back, not just take it. I just wish Democrats would stop eating their own over every damn little thing.

I think people are tired of Democrats apologizing all the time, often when they've done nothing wrong other than getting unjustly attack by the opposition and the media. If you're wrong, by all means apologize, but if you're right, stand your ground. No need to walk it back or over explain. It looks weak and that is why republicans make trivial accusations about Democrats.

Couldn't hold Afghanistan. Now that we have figured out that we don't know and never did how to achieve something in Afghanistan. And with the recent lithium reserves in S. America coming soon to a market near you.

Uncle Joe could easily outsmart the mental midget in the White House.
Biden can make a deal with the Senate, military, and Intel folks and remove trump And our guys stranded in the desert. Win Win Win

Joe could get first ballot delegates and a landslide, trump could save a little face and no jail. And a few repubs stay in the Senate, not the end of the world. Troops stay alive w/o head injuries and missing limbs.

No other candidate has talked turkey with the guys that could make that happen.

primary today, I would vote for:
