‘Bernie Democrat’ Deletes Tweet Saying He Hopes Obama Gets Cancer, Then Defends Tweet By Saying He Hopes Obama Gets Cancer

Justin Lecea — a self-described “Bernie Democrat” running to unseat Texas Democratic Congressman Joaquin Castro — is defending a tweet in which he wished former President Barack Obama would get cancer.

Over the weekend, Lecea retweeted an Obama tweet reminding people about the deadline for enrollment in Obamacare, and added his uncharitable message.

“I just want you to think about all the people who have and will die because Obamacare is pointless and your entire presidency was a waste,” he wrote, and added “If god was just you would get the most malignant cancer imaginable.”

The tweet was later deleted, but preserved in a screenshot by Obamacare enrollment analyst Charles Gaba.

That attack on Obama suggests to me that that person was probably a "PUMA" supporting Hillary against Obama as nastily in 2008 as he did Sanders against Hillary in 2016 and is now against all the Democrats in 2019. Same very recognizable behavior pattern.

Lecea is a socialist running in the Democratic primary for Texas’ 20th congressional district. He’s a strong supporter of Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and describes himself as a “Bernie Democrat.”

The rate of uninsured Texans fell precipitously following passage of the Affordable Care Act, despite the fact that the state refused Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion, but the rate has crept back up under the Trump administration. The Affordable Care Act also made it illegal for insurance companies to discriminate against consumers with pre-existing medical conditions, including cancer.

7. Obamacare study proves that having health insurance reduces U.S. death rates
Mon Dec 16, 2019, 02:14 PM
Dec 2019

<snip>

"The relentless conservative attack on the Affordable Care Act has been based on two deeply-held beliefs: That the individual mandate didn’t prompt people to buy health insurance, and that having coverage does nothing to make people healthier.

A new study conducted by a Stanford University researcher with the help of the Internal Revenue Service explodes both notions. It found that Americans who failed to respond to the individual mandate penalty when it was in effect (through 2018), tended to sign up for coverage when they were reminded about it; and that among those who did sign up, mortality rates fell.

The study is significant for two reasons. First, it undercuts Republican actions that led to the elimination of the penalty by the 2017 tax cut bill, effective in January 2019, while supporting legislation in California, two other states and the District of Columbia that reinstates the penalty within their borders.

Second, it’s the most statistically valid study showing that mortality rates are lower for people with coverage. Indeed, the study found that among those 49 to 64 years old, acquiring health insurance showed up in lower death rates within a year or two."

I do not support our current two party system and disapprove of the leadership of both political parties, and how little they are doing to solve the problems that the average American is facing. However because of the nature of our political system I am running as a Democrat as they are the party that my policies most closely align with.

https://www.justintx20.com

I guess that when a political candidate (Bernie) says that he wants to lead a revolution, it means that some revolting characters will follow. I agree that there should be no guilt by association, but it's difficult not to take notice and wonder.

I read the Twitter post by Lecea and the thread before it was deleted. Needless to say, Lecea's campaign ended before it really even began. It also was a foolish move to challenge Rep. Joaquin Castro (Julian's twin brother) who is very popular in that district. It will be interesting to check Lecea's FEC campaign report in January if he bothers to file one.

I have noted that this online effect and its excess verbiage gets down to micro-reporting/sharing of trivial things people do and say all the time and then the whole hive gets buzzing about it. It resembles a collective form of gossip or even a malignant social entertainment.

I am not implying anything here about doing anything about it. I just thought I would mention the observation. It will continue regardless, but if you think about attention, focus, energy and time, there are actually some really big and important things going on that might deserve the spotlight for more people.

Well, it's a sociological zoo in the noosphere these days

Justin Lecea is pretty much a joke but his rhetoric and actions are representative of a more pervasive and serious problem...attacks on Democrats from so-called progressives (with an assist from Russian-bots).

From his twitter account:

"Obama deserves to be in The Hague.."

"...recently bought an 11 million dollar home in Martha's Vinyard, and demonstrated privilege so great that he gives zero fucks about y'all.

Obama is part of the club that is going to let y'all burn in climate change."

"Y'all are defending a war criminal who was in authority during the deportation of over 3 million immigrants, continued the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, allowed the continued poisoning of citizens in places like Flint, and also."

"I wonder if @JoeBiden is going to run on the Republican ticket when Bernie wins Super Tuesday.

He seems to share more policies with republicans than he does with a large percentage of his own party.
#GOPJoe."

"Biden supporter yelled at me for not being respectful. I don't respect war criminals."

And of course wishing death on Obama.

Then he showed up at a Biden campaign event and heckled him with right-wing smears. Where have we seen this before?

Check out the comments on the commondreams (breaking news & views for the progressive community) article posted in this forum today:

"If the polls are accurate, it shows that a large percentage of Americans are dumb enough to back Biden, despite him being senile, anti-progressive, pro-war, corporate, and basically, a hack.

Let’s hope that enough of the dummies are enlightened and become Bernie supporters.

The Obama/Biden mythology persists."

"From what I can ascertain Biden is: A Warmonger, A Bigot, A Wall Street Puppet and a Right Wing Republican.

We Progressives must come to the obvious realization that Biden is in many ways even worse than the obnoxious arrogant Bigot we currently have in the White House.

I expect the Immoral and Unethical Scandal fomenting with his Son Hunter Biden will soon have even moderate Democrats realizing that Joe Biden and Hunter are a couple of Dishonest Influence Peddling Shake Down Artists.

BERNIE SANDERS - 2020"

"Might as well be candid: the DNC & the GOP have a symbiotic relationship. They NEED each other. They ARE the ruling junta. They both answer only to Wall Street, Big Oil, Big Chemical, Big Pharma and endless war."

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/12/16/leading-among-people-color-and-younger-voters-sanders-right-behind-biden-new-2020

This @#$% is non-stop. And not very entertaining.

Anyway, I think micro-reporting/sharing of these things is a good thing. Justin for Congress got exposed and epically ratioed. And the Democrat he's running against in the primary is picking up donations.

As one person put it..

"Just chipped into Joaquin’s campaign from roughly 1,500 miles away. It’s the least I could do to keep a sociopath out of office."

be trying to brush it away..

It's endemic of a dangerous disease.

More of this crap...

Why Is the Young Left Out to Get Buttigieg? Here Are Four Theories.

<snip>

"Young progressives on the internet don’t seem to like Pete Buttigieg very much. They’ve called him “the most obnoxious type of Millennial” and “a Boomer wrapped up in a Millennial’s clothing”; a “Build-a-Bear for middling Democrats” and “a candidate seemingly dreamed up by some Democratic National Committee algorithm”; a “baggie full of uncut special interest talking points” and a “grab bag of gifted-and-talented party tricks.” Buttigieg is a young person’s idea of an old person—and, evidently, some sort of bag.

The online left is not the electorate, and its views don’t represent a generation of voters. But youthful distaste for Buttigieg isn’t an internet illusion. In a recent Quinnipiac poll, Buttigieg placed second in the Democratic field among voters over 50. But he earned just 2 percent support among voters under 35. His popularity among those aged 35–49 is about as high as his overall numbers. Buttigieg hate is tightly concentrated among the young."

<snip>

"What’s going on here? Let’s begin with the most straightforward explanation.

1. Don’t overthink it: They hate him because he’s not a socialist—and his early-state poll numbers are rising.

This is the obvious answer and, frankly, it might be the only answer. In the past two months, no candidate has gained more than Buttigieg in the early states. If he wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, he could block Bernie Sanders’s path to the nomination. And this deeply concerns young progressive activists, who rightly see the Democratic primary as a zero-sum competition to lead the party in a winnable election that has the potential to redefine the Democratic platform for a decade or longer. Buttigieg, far more than Biden, has the youth and vigor to command the party for the next generation. And this makes him the graver threat to those arguing for a socialist revolution.

This explanation takes us pretty far. But I’m not sure it quite captures the level of sulfuric hate in the progressive objections to his candidacy."

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/12/why-young-progressives-hate-pete-buttigieg/603619/

Bring on the hate.

"Is this a joke? Is that butt judge’s new campaign slogan? WTF"

"Like someone has correctly described boot geek as a M.F. He seems to be proving the soneones right. Trying to distort, through monkey wrench and confusion factors into the heart of what progressives are trying to accomplish is simply satanic."

"I’d say that if BootyJudge is gay, as he claims to be, he technically can’t be a “motherfu**er” because a mother is a woman and if he’s gay he doesn’t have sex with women.
However, he is a war criminal and a vicious little twit. Take a look at the smug, and then angry face from the little fella when Tulsi Gabbard calls him out on his lies.
I’m sure Tulsi could kick his ass in an MMA fight too."

This guy's a goner.

"Good points. Almost everyone in this comment section is a member of the nihilistic, self-absorbed, “If not Bernie, then let the winner be Trump!” - wing of the left (they even consider Warren to be unacceptable), which the IRA - Агентство интернет-исследований - has been wildly successful at mass-psychologically-manipulating with its trolling and memes. This wing of the left (Never Hillary - Trump won’t be so bad!) was key in Trump winning in Pennsylvania and Michigan, and therefore, the election. This same Russian troll “nihilizing” and dividing of the would-be-left-opposition in other countries has given us Bolsonaro in Brazil, Orban in Hungary, the Brexit-Right in the UK…"

What is far more concerning is that this is a person running for public office on our side (more or less) and this is the kind of rhetoric he feels comfortable using while talking in his echo chamber of like-minded people.

Edited to add: Thankfully, this person has shown his true colors and destroyed his potential political career and maybe even a career beyond politics. He'd have to switch parties. For Dems, he can delete the tweet but this will still remain in his record.
