Democratic insiders: Bernie could win the nomination

Democratic insiders: Bernie could win the nomination

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/26/can-bernie-sanders-win-2020-election-president-089636

Suddenly, Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign is being taken seriously.

For months the Vermont senator was written off by Democratic Party insiders as a candidate with a committed but ultimately narrow base who was too far left to win the primary. Elizabeth Warren had skyrocketed in the polls and seemed to be leaving him behind in the race to be progressive voters’ standard-bearer in 2020.

But in the past few weeks, something has changed. In private conversations and on social media, Democratic officials, political operatives and pundits are reconsidering Sanders’ chances.
Story Continued Below

“It may have been inevitable that eventually you would have two candidates representing each side of the ideological divide in the party. A lot of smart people I’ve talked to lately think there’s a very good chance those two end up being Biden and Sanders,” said David Brock, a longtime Hillary Clinton ally who founded a pro-Clinton super PAC in the 2016 campaign. “They’ve both proven to be very resilient.”

Thu Dec 26, 2019, 02:27 PM

It appears that sanders has a firm ceiling that he will not exceed. This is from the article cited in op

Many moderate Democrats still dismiss Sanders’ candidacy. They believe his so-called ceiling remains intact and that Warren will depress any room for growth he might otherwise have.

“He can’t win the nomination,” said Matt Bennett, co-founder of the center-left group Third Way, adding that Sanders’ uptick is simply him “bouncing around between his ceiling and his floor a little bit more than people had thought he would.”

44. I hope that media starts vetting sanders
Thu Dec 26, 2019, 02:24 PM
Dec 2019

If the media starts covering sanders, then the media will also start vetting sanders which will be fun

While Sanders’ supporters complain relentlessly that he has received less attention from the media than other candidates, he has also avoided sustained criticism that some of his rivals have suffered. That could be helping him, especially compared with Warren, who has recently come under fire from the left and center for her health care plan.

“If you really think about it, Bernie hasn’t been hit a lot with anything. It’s not like he’s getting hit by other campaigns,” said Michael Ceraso, a former New Hampshire director for Pete Buttigieg’s campaign who worked for Sanders in 2016. ….

If Sanders’ candidacy continues to be taken seriously, he will eventually be subjected to the scrutiny that Warren and Biden have faced for prolonged stretches. That includes an examination of his electability. “That conversation has never worked well for anyone,” Pfeiffer said

There is so much oppo that is out there on sanders that trump would win 45+ states by merely playing the video clips of sanders praising Cuba, socialism, and Central American regimes on a loop.

" “I believe people should take him very seriously. He has a very good shot of winning Iowa, a very good shot of winning New Hampshire, and other than Joe Biden, the best shot of winning Nevada,” said Dan Pfeiffer, who served as an adviser to former President Barack Obama. “He could build a real head of steam heading into South Carolina and Super Tuesday.” "

...WOW WEE WOW WOW…more powerful than a locomotive...

...which says...

I pledge to:

Make the primary constructive. I’ll respect the other candidates and make the primary election about inspiring voters with my vision for the future.

Rally behind the winner. I’ll support the ultimate Democratic nominee, whomever it is — period. No Monday morning quarterbacking. No third-party threats. Immediately after there’s a nominee, I’ll endorse.

Do the work to beat Trump. I will do everything in my power to make the Democratic Nominee the next President of the United States. As soon as there is a nominee, I will put myself at the disposal of the campaign.

...And he has a record of actually doing that, unlike Sanders...

...you need to...

...pay more attention...

75. "All that socialism means to me, to be very frank with you, is democracy
Sat Dec 28, 2019, 03:06 PM
Dec 2019

with a small ‘d.’ I believe in democracy, and by democracy I mean that, to as great an extent as possible, human beings have the right to control their own lives. And that means that you cannot separate the political structure from the economic structure. One has to be an idiot to believe that the average working person who’s making $10,000 or $12,000 a year is equal in political power to somebody who is the head of a large bank or corporation. So if you believe in political democracy, if you believe in equality, you have to believe in economic democracy as well.”

Whaat? He keeps saying democracy working as it should is socialism. NO, it's not. Not even close.

Economic democracy definition: A socioeconomic philosophy that proposes to shift decision-making power from corporate managers and corporate shareholders to a larger group of public stakeholders that includes workers, customers, suppliers, neighbors and the broader public.

Gotcha. He believes in seizure of government and capitalist institutions for joint communal ownership and employment. Socialism of our entire economic system. Why doesn't he just say so? Honestly? He used to, long ago when no one was listening to him.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
