FORMER OBAMA ADVISOR SAYS PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE BERNIE SANDERS 'VERY SERIOUSLY' AFTER RISE IN POLLING

Former Obama senior advisor and Pod Save America co-host Dan Pfeiffer said Senator Bernie Sanders is a serious contender to receive the Democratic nomination, after a recent jump in national and early-state polls.

Pfeiffer told Politico that "people should take [Sanders] very seriously." He said that Sanders has very good chances in the states with early primaries and caucuses.

"He has a very good shot of winning Iowa, a very good shot of winning New Hampshire, and other than Joe Biden, the best shot of winning Nevada," said Pfeiffer, noting that these early odds improved Sanders' chances going forward. "He could build a real head of steam heading into South Carolina and Super Tuesday," a Tuesday early in the primaries where the most states hold primaries and caucuses. That falls on March 3, 2020, with Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia holding primaries.

Pfeiffer served as a strategy and communications senior advisor to President Barack Obama during the president's second term; he had worked for the Obama-Biden transition team after Obama's victory in the 2008 presidential election. Prior to being appointed senior advisor, Pfeiffer served as White House communications director. In June 2018, he published his first book Yes We (Still) Can: Politics in the Age of Obama, Twitter, and Trump. His next book, Un-Trumping America, will be released in February 2020.

2. The Politico article which is what the OP is based on warns about sanders being vetted
Thu Dec 26, 2019, 03:37 PM
Dec 2019

If the media starts covering sanders, then the media will also start vetting sanders which will be fun

While Sanders’ supporters complain relentlessly that he has received less attention from the media than other candidates, he has also avoided sustained criticism that some of his rivals have suffered. That could be helping him, especially compared with Warren, who has recently come under fire from the left and center for her health care plan.

“If you really think about it, Bernie hasn’t been hit a lot with anything. It’s not like he’s getting hit by other campaigns,” said Michael Ceraso, a former New Hampshire director for Pete Buttigieg’s campaign who worked for Sanders in 2016. ….

If Sanders’ candidacy continues to be taken seriously, he will eventually be subjected to the scrutiny that Warren and Biden have faced for prolonged stretches. That includes an examination of his electability. “That conversation has never worked well for anyone,” Pfeiffer said

There is so much oppo that is out there on sanders that trump would win 45+ states by merely playing the video clips of sanders praising Cuba, socialism, and Central American regimes on a loop.

as Sen. Sanders continues to run strong, the MSM will get to work on those "rape essay" and "honeymoon in Russia" stories, and turn them into a fine media product tailored specifically to reduce Sanders' support among Democrats and the electorate at large. this will be a real hit-job when it happens, not just a "there he goes again" gaffe report for VP Biden or another "medicare for all? inconceivable!" chiding of Sen. Warren.

something the media owners simply cannot allow: a sincere, openly socialist candidate to become well-known and truly beloved by the American electorate. they will do anything to stop it, and imho they will want it stopped before the 2020 primary voting starts so they don't have to kiss Trump's ass for another term.

when the knives come out for Bernie, they will be sharp and cut deep, nothing like the wiffle-bat skirmishes we've seen so far. and they'll come with embedded attacks on socialism fueled with horror stories from Venezuela, which can be repeated ad nauseum by the pompous orange turd at his hate rallies.

it's actually good for us all if this happens soon, because if Bernie can still go on to win the primary in spite of the character assassination the MSM's about to drop on him, i think he stands a solid chance of winning the general election too.

that it's almost laughable that he can actually win. Perhaps it's because it's widely believed that most voters won't cast their ballot for a self-proclaimed socialist.

This is why the media barely covers him - he's not viewed as a real contender and time is running out for this perception to change.

...President Obama's former advisor, Dan Pfeiffer, wouldn't lie...

...Dan Pfeiffer knows a great candidate and great presidential material when he see it...

"...Dan Pfeiffer said Senator Bernie Sanders is a serious contender to receive the Democratic nomination, after a recent jump in national and early-state polls.

Pfeiffer told Politico that "people should take [Sanders] very seriously." He said that Sanders has very good chances in the states with early primaries and caucuses. "

...I trust in Dan Pfeiffer's judgement...

Is now considered a “divisive group attack” by someone here on the DU. I just want to say, if Sanders gets the nomination, fine by me. Like I said to my trump hating republican friend when she expressed concerns about Sanders..is he better than trump? Well, of course, she says. So while my fairly conservative republican friend votes for Bernie,I wonder who the “Democrats” on DU will vote for?
