Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumHouse Democrats' health-care bill hurts Trump and Bernie
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) held a news conference Tuesday with fellow Democrats on Tuesday to roll out their new health-care proposal in the wake of the administrations announcement that it supported complete invalidation of the Affordable Care Act in a 5th Circuit case. The court move came as an unexpected political gift to Democrats.
Pelosi reminded the media:
Last night, in federal court, the Justice Department of the Trump Administration youd think they have more to do decided to not only try to destroy protections for preexisting conditions, but to tear down every last benefit and protection the ACA affords.
The GOP will never stop trying to destroy the affordable health care of Americas families. I always think of Mr. Clyburn and John Lewis when they quote Martin Luther King, when he talks about, of all the injustices, the most inhumane is the inequality of health care.

Considering the office BS is running for, he needs to be asked if he would veto progressive legislation. Would he veto a pathway to citizenship if he didn't like the Visa language in the legislation? Would he veto positive and progressive healthcare legislation if it isn't Medicare for All? Fair question considering he is lining up with Republicans in opposition to Pelosi and other Democrats when it comes to this healthcare push to protect and strengthen the ACA.

(17,984 posts)Went off on that idea. One said, There would be no repeal without replace! Cabinet Officials did not even know.
Democrats just beat them on that.
I just watched Trump make that announcement with Mitch. Wiped the smile right off McConnells face!

(4,387 posts)How so? Obama wanted a public option and he didn't veto the ACA.
I like the things in the proposal that was laid out yesterday. The premium cap would benefit me greatly. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't push for more. Especially now since there's no reason not too as neither this proposal nor anything that goes further will make it past the senate.
Medicare for All or at the very least a buy-in option for every regardless of age. Go for it!

(3,259 posts)He has voted against it. Your Obama reference misses the mark on that point alone.
Additionally, what you like Sanders is on record as being opposed.

(31,261 posts)I tell you right now. If you are dreaming that people that have company backed health care are going to give that up for Medicare for All or even Medicare buyin, then you need to think again.
What Medicare buyin would do is help individuals that are self employed or who run small companies get affordable healthcare coverage for themselves and employees. That would be hugely beneficial to the country as a whole as it would encourage creative people to take risks starting up new ideas instead of stay with a job for health insurance coverage.

(68,576 posts)Blamed when nothing passes . Sanders knows once the ACA is fixed with a public option,
we get universal coverage but not Medicare for all maybe...his desired legacy.

Which will split the Democratic Party.
It's difficult to imagine President Bernie negotiating with the Republicans and moderate Democrats to get anything done.

(12,448 posts)to people who demand to know if I will vote for Bernie if he wins the primary. I always tell them it's a moot point, because he won't win. The people will NOT take to the streets demanding all his policies be implemented at once. He likes to tell people that, but even he knows better.
