The HillIn a video tweeted Monday evening, the 2020 candidate for president wrote that Trump's chances of winning reelection had been "greatly increased" because of the House's vote.
"Unfortunately, the House impeachment of the president has greatly increased the likelihood Trump will remain the president for the next 5 years," Gabbard says in the video.
"We all know that Trump is not going to be found guilty by the U.S. Senate," she added.

(673 posts)to make the contrarian play and go against impeachment in the hope that it would backfire and she'd benefit from it. That's what she's trying to do now, is make impeachment looks like a big mistake and be the only candidate who was against it. To an extent Yang has tried to cover this strategy too.
There's no evidence that impeachment has had any impact on Trumps reelection hopes. Support for impeachment has increased a lot in the past 6 months. Trumps approval ratings ticked up, but have returned back into their normal range. Most information is coming out that might sway public opinion a bit, but I doubt there's much change.
On historical trend is that the Presidents party has lost the white house in each election following an impeachment.
A senate trial that ends with Trump staying in office is the outcome almost everyone in America expects, so why would it have any impact that isn't baked in already?
We are holding out for a "fair trial" right now, but I think the best outcome for Democrats is that the Senate holds a sham trial and quickly votes to keep him in. That way we can spend the next 10 months using that vote a cudgel. I think most people who aren't solidly MAGA believe that Trump did what the articles say he did, and the Senate essentially clearing him without so much as an argument would be a really bad look.
