Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI'm thinking Sanders going negative on social media will backfire.
Unlike 2016, a competitor or two will call him out during the debates. It would be better to target Bloomberg IMHO.

(39,367 posts)But in the flaming asshole category on social media, Sanders supporters win by a mile.
Its the thing I like least about Bernie, tbh. His apparent inability to set an example for his little Robespierres and his utter lack of interest in the consequences of their behavior.

during a debate. It was an opportunity lost. Surrogates poisoned the well in 2016, and that legacy continues to cripple his appeal this year.

(7,277 posts)... he would have done better.
But Bernie knows what his people are saying and doesn't care.
His staff is filled with terrible people. I can't support him in the primary. His judgement is awful on that point. I fear that if nominated, he'd staff up the DNC with people like that and the party would be electorally stomped on for a generation.

And if that is the kind of people he staffs his campaign with, what kind of people will comprise his cabinet? Sanders has some persuasive ideas and convincing rhetoric, but I don't think he has the judgment or disposition of a president.
I've always seen Sanders as an activist, an important and necessary voice, but I never really saw him in the Oval Office. There are so many ways to serve and not everyone can or should be president.

(47,370 posts)I find her far more persuasive and relatable. Plus she is wicked smart. I really can't take the nonstop angry yelling all the time. Sanders needs to dial it down, people are exhausted.

(17,615 posts)...tossing cash at HRCs car when she arrived at a fund raiser.. the taunting of the young WOC as she ran past them. I couldnt figure out what side they were on. A surrogate calling HRC a 'Cooporate Whore' and having 20,000 kids cheer that on. For shame!! We were all supposed to be on the same side..but i wondered.
Sanders could not control these followers..or would not control them. Hows he going to control an unruly Congress? I saw NO leadership skills demonstrated..just the skill to incite.
imho..

(1,474 posts)or that America will only get better when I and everybody in my generation is dead. That was kind of a weird message in 2016.

(9,291 posts)He is barely hanging on to #2, and his message doesn't resonate beyond his core base. The only thing Bernie is left with is energize the base with attacks on the front runner (Biden just happens to be one, but if there was anyone else at the top, things wouldn't change. If Bloomberg were the front runner, he would have been subject to Bernie's wrath).
The only thing Bernie may do differently is start going after Warren. Warren, having learned that going after Biden as she did with M4A is a losing strategy, doesn't seem to be inclined to do it again. She now takes great care to be non-confrontational with all the candidates, and as a consequence, I wouldn't be surprised if her approval rises. She has room to grow while Bernie doesn't, and that makes her a threat to Bernie. She is the only candidate who has the potential to chip away at Bernie's core support, and that makes her more dangerous to Bernie than Biden is.

Were in the last 30 days of the campaign, and thats when people who are losing start attacking, Schale said. Its not surprising theyve taken more of a negative turn when they realized that Joe Biden after basically a year of being attacked is still the frontrunner.
These attacks amuse me
