(8,361 posts)support legislation that keeps workers rights down? Do you see what I mean? If a millionaire or billionaire is telling Americans they do not support Medicare for All, they should question that persons values, imo.

(17,329 posts)...what if we had it today? trump* would withhold funding for it til it was tied to the wall. I dont want any one entity ( esp NOT the government) to hold all the cards re: my healthcare.

(8,361 posts)Most Americans do not want that scenario nor do they want insane health care bills they can't survive.

(113,008 posts)but who voted for Clinton and has said he thinks he and other wealthy people should be taxed more? It's not as simple as it looks. Not all rich people are evil and not all poor people are virtuous.

(113,008 posts)of constructing a system in which everyone has affordable health care. Believing there's a better, or more efficient, or more realistic way of arriving at that goal does mean that person has questionable values, billionaire or not.

(8,361 posts)not have the least costly and most people covered healthcare plan. Medicare for All. I do question the values-judgement of billionaires and others, its why we have a primary race.

(21,646 posts)Our new governor was disliked by many when running but he is doing many good things imo including #1-moving Ruiner out of office !

He defeated Republican incumbent Bruce Rauner in the general election on November 6, 2018, and took office on January 14, 2019. As governor, he holds more private wealth than any other governor in U.S. history and is the second-wealthiest U.S. politician to have ever held office, after Michael Bloomberg.
In his first official act as Governor, he signed his first executive order which will usher in a renewed era of transparency among state agencies.

(51,993 posts)but I wouldn't eliminate billionaires as a category. JFK and FDR were almost certainly the equivalent of billionaires in their day and they weren't too bad.

(2,657 posts)Billionaires tend to care a lot more about making money for themselves than they care about other people. Yes, a small percentage of billionaires do eventually give some of their wealth back. However, I wish that they had just made sure that the workers got paid more and that they took home less.
