Democrats need a unity pledge
We CANNOT afford or endure four more years of stupid in the White House. Like everyone else, I have my list of preferences when it comes to government and policy and the candidates who promote them. But I will vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever it is regardless of their list of preferential issues. This isn't rocket science. 60% of the likely voters in this country don't want to vote for the orange headed buffoon. The Democrats need to give every person in that 60% someone they can vote for.
Do we have to come up with a pledge? There isn't anything Democrats stand for that will survive a second Trump term. You get nothing if he's re-elected.

1. When I watch the Democratic candidate debates...
...I keep hoping every candidate prefaces his/her comments with this statement: "I think we all will agree that the most important thing is that we win back the White House from that con man who currently holds the office. WHOEVER wins the Democratic nomination is a hundred times better than what we have now."

2. We have one. In fact one of the candidates "challenged" the others to sign it, and that candidate...
...was the first to break it AND has violated it more than probably all the others combined.
Just like he "challenged" all the candidates to swear off Super PACs, and now has six or seven of them supporting him. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

4. Just stop
The divisive rhetoric needs to stop. Expand and support your candidate’s policies, but tearing down the other candidates drives their supporters back to the sidelines if yours’ wins the nomination.

11. Campaign rhetoric suggests it
I understand that most Democratic candidates want to get their policy points up there. And I'd be excited, too, if I had a shot at the Presidency because 2020 is an almost certainty for Democrats. I'd just like to hear and see a little more of it.
Yeah, so it may sound corny, but what a statement it would make if one of the questions was, "Take a look at the candidate standing on your left and make a case for his or her qualifications to be President of the United States." It's either that or stand and hold shoulders and sing Kum Ba Yah. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

6. Then we need to discourage the snarky bullcrap.
People who should be confident about their candidate and their choice are spending time talking smack about other candidates (and even worse, their supporters).
This can kill enthusiasm for the GE. It needs to end. We are all on the same team and we are all adults. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |

13. I am hoping for a positive message
No, we do not see "carnage." America has always been great. We see a country that has always been a beacon for the rest of the world, welcoming the "huddled masses yearning to breathe free." We may have our differences but all of us want to have a welcoming, functioning country when all work together, when we know that we can deal with any disappointment and set back.
OK, so I am naive but one can always hope. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

19. :) Chill. Good citizens are like the very elderly Georgia farmer who
told me that 80 years ago, before modern insecticides, fungicides, etc, they just had to grow more -- "enough for us and them."
Democrats are already strongly united behind our common goals and ideals, but we have to run a candidate who can win and we have to vote in high enough numbers to win. Malcontents, self haters and so on will always be with us, but the populism and other forms of extremism that attract them grow in times of anxiety the way molds do in heat and humidity, and extremism will only die back when we restore stability and feelings of security. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

21. No thanks.
They are applying for what might be the most powerful position in the world.
About this unity pledge you are considering.... Would it stop our ability to talk about Bidens horrendous vote for the Iraq War? Woulds it stop us from discussing Sanders rape essay that he had published and his horrendous response toward women from his 2016 campaign? Literally a trend about the same issue that has been a part of who he is for decades and decades. Would it stop us from talking about how unprepared the Warren campaign was in response to their own proposal to fund M4A? These are all real things that we should be open to discussing like adults. They are all issues that play a role in our decisions. They are some of the most important topics. Saying that we need to shelve these things because of Trump is not something I or anyone I know is willing to do. I want our candidates to be vetted. So far, outside of Biden and Pete, they have not been. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

And a clear path out of this mess.
Issues like health, climate, taxes, education, etal need to be addressed and Democratic solutions presented. We need to define ourselves and not let a single candidate define us. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |
