1. If, and I mean if, there is a Democratic candidate for president

that thinks that a woman cannot get elected president, that is an issue. It must be discussed and not swept under the rug.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

2. I strongly suspect there is more to this story than what we've heard so far.

Given Bernie's history regarding his views on women in politics, I think there was likely some kind of misunderstanding between him and Elizabeth. There are plenty of video clips showing Bernie, as far back as 30 years ago, telling people of all ages that a woman could be president of the United States. It's possible he thought Trump would use Warren's gender against her in the general, which might put her at a disadvantage. That is objectively true and happened to Hillary in 2016. Maybe Warren interpreted that as 'a woman can't win'. I don't know, and we don't have a transcript of the conversation for context.

It's possible Bernie did explicitly say 'a woman can't win', which would be horrible and a complete 180 in terms of his character. I find that to be unlikely, but again, we don't have a transcript of the conversation.

Worst case scenario, this is a cynical attempt by the Warren campaign to attack Bernie's character on the eve of the Iowa caucuses. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now, but I certainly hope it's nothing more than a misunderstanding.

I don't know the inner thoughts of any of our candidates but I do know that Bernie has been on the forefront of the fight for progressive ideals for his entire political life. That's good enough for me.

3. Every Warren and every Sanders supporter should have been aware this was coming

The plan to find any wedge they can to cause manufactured animosity between the camps. The one thing the establishment fears is they are getting along as the end of the primaries nears. Their supporters represent the progressive wing of the party, and the majority, and together, they have enough votes to choose who is our nominee. If one or the other bows out eventually and supports the other. So we will see them go overtime now in stoking any mistake made by either in the past. Any perceived slight from one against the other. And raise each one into a 5 BUT...EMAILS! alarm.

That Politico story was a hit piece on behalf of who knows. The Sanders camp responded to that

https://www.dailydot.com/layer8/sanders-campaign-negative-warren-slack/

“Here’s what actually happened,” @ericisaac’s thread began, “A random user who’s only ever posted once before posted that document in the Sanders volunteer Slack group. A moderator promptly removed it and stated that it was NOT a campaign source.”

The thread went on to accuse Politico of being “incredibly irresponsible,” and claim the Sanders’ volunteers signed an agreement prohibiting them from being negative about other candidates.

One thing that gives me hope they will not let it get to them is both Sanders and Warren are incredibly mentally strong. Sanders refused to get personal in the last campaign and he and Warren I am sure, will not let these kinds of blown out of proportion "scandals" work on them.

The trick will be to keep both of their supporters focused and not let outside forces stoke divisions.

I really appreciate the way he stepped up to the plate to diffuse and settle this issue. If he should win our nomination, he has my support.

Rump, Republicans and the media would love to portray Democrats as attacking and eating our own.
