Hiking the MW will not solve this problem. Changing the tax laws to one which will hit huge, very profitable corporations in a way that they cannot escape, and investing that money into Americans everywhere to circulate throughout their communities will address this problem.

(3,169 posts)The polls I saw showed Harris significantly behind Biden with exactly the groups she should have been strong with. As much as I would have LOVED to see her go after Trump and really think she should NOT have dropped out, I thought it looked like Joe sucked the air out of her campaign.
But my observation is that it takes (barring the exceptional charisma of Obama) 10-20 years to lay the groundwork for a presidential run. Hillary in 2016 and Joe now had/have been getting ready for 20+ years. Two years as a Senator just doesn't give one enough time to build the network needed, historically (Obama and Kennedy both had time in the House, and the blessing/backing of a lot of the establishment of the party, at least more than Sen Harris).

(63,926 posts)Warren or Biden (I don't think Sanders will sustain a lead). Castro or Booker could match well with Warren, if she wins). I don't think we'll get two women on the ballot, tho. At least not this time -- maybe at some point, yes (hopefully I'll still be around to see it!).

If someone did mention this issue in the last debate and I missed it, please let me know. I would really love to be mistaken about this.

Whoever we have as our candidate will need support from all races. I didn't expect the issue to be dropped so quickly once the last non-white candidate was off the stage.
