All Presidential elections are referendums on the economy

That's super simplistic, but true.

Farmers care whether he will get the EPA off their backs and improve their prospects of exporting crops and meat to places like China. West Virginians know their state is dirt poor, and want to know how ending coal mining and fracking for gas possibly helps that. Small business owners don't see the benefits of having to pay a $15 minimum wage. People in towns where the manufacturing left back in the 80s, or the 90s, or the early 2000s want to know how globalization benefited them. A generation is saddled with student loan debt that is crippling. The government is spending at huge deficits in a time of relative prosperity - why?

We need to make this about solving the problems typical Americans face. We need to make this about delivering better outcomes with smarter and more honest leadership.
