Having Bloomberg on stage is a good thing.

For voters AND for other candidates.

He hasn't been in a position to defend his ideas. Now he will be.

At first I was thinking of how Perez said they wouldn't change the rules midstream, and how Yang kinda got f'd over because of the drought in polling in December.

But now I see that it's actually a good thing so I'm thankful they did it.

I know I'm looking forward to hearing what he has to say and how he will respond to the challenging questions I hope he'll be asked.

Anyone who is laser focused on Tru$$ia and willing to transition billions to “take him out” if he is not the Nominee (hey Tom Steyer) is just alright by me.

Buy Fox Mike and kill it. Don’t support 100% but I will not let purity get in the way.

5. When did Perez say that the rules to qualify for debates wouldn't change?
Fri Jan 31, 2020, 11:47 PM
Jan 2020

According to the NYT

The Democratic National Committee has made it progressively harder to qualify for debates, narrowing the field of candidates invited onstage.

9. The rules to qualify for that debate had already been announced

when Perez made that statement.

From your link (USA Today):

The DNC raised the criteria to qualify in each debate. For the first debate, which took place in Miami on June 26 and 27, the candidates had to have at least 1% in three national or early state polls, or 65,000 unique donors. For Tuesday's debate in Des Moines, the standard rose to 5% in four national polls, or 7% in two early state polls, or 225,000 unique donors.

way to get a fairly obvious explanation. It's all right there.

The polling requirements are much more rigorous.

The Feb. 7 Debate

To score an invite, candidates have to meet a donor requirement:

- contributions from 225,000 unique donors.

And one of two polling requirements:

- two polls at 7 percent or more in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina, [...] or
- four polls at 5 percent or more in those early nominating states or national surveys.

Only polls released between Dec. 13 and Feb. 6 will count. Candidates can also qualify by earning at least one delegate in the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3.

The Feb. 19 Debate

To score an invite, candidates have to meet one of two polling requirements:

- two polls at 12 percent or more in Nevada and/or South Carolina; or
- four polls at 10 percent or more in those states or in national surveys.

Only polls released between Jan. 15 and Feb. 18 will count. There is no donor requirement, but candidates can also qualify by earning at least one delegate in the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3 or in the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 11.

If he looks good, and can set himself apart, he could move up fast. The front runners are over-exposed, while Bloomberg is coming in fresh, maybe at the perfect time.

When I chose Bloomberg as my choice on DU, it was more of a lark. I still don't see him having a big chance, but it is looking much more possible.
