Hillary shouldn't have attacked Bernie. Tlaib shouldn't have booed Hillary for it.

Last edited Sat Feb 1, 2020, 11:12 AM - Edit history (1)

People on twitter shouldn't attack Tlaib for booing Hillary for attacking Bernie.
And other people on twitter shouldn't attack the people attacking Tlaib for booing Hillary for attacking Bernie.

Instead, everyone should take a step back and de-escalate. These fights don't help anyone but Trump.

ON EDIT: Thank you Rashida Tlaib for taking the high road on this and apologizing. Classy move, shows we can and will unite as a party.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Bernie Sanders Is Spoiling for a Fight With the DNC

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2020/jan/09/bernie-sanders/did-biden-laud-paul-ryan-proposal-cut-social-secur/

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — As a congressman in the 1990s, Bernie Sanders expressed an openness to making “adjustments” to the tax and benefit structure of Social Security. He also praised an overhaul of the social safety net program signed into law by President Ronald Reagan that reduced benefits and increased taxes on working families.

Sanders’ presidential campaign and allies have highlighted similar remarks by Joe Biden to attack the former vice president and make the explosive charge that Biden was an outspoken proponent of slashing the program.

And then she declared that she was "with her."

"I am here tonight because in this election, there is only one person who I trust with [the responsibility of the presidency,]" she said. "Only one person who I believe is truly qualified to be president of the United States. And that is our friend, Hillary Clinton."

Obama was not immune from boos. Sanders supporters booed and began chanting "Bernie! Bernie!" as Obama endorsed Clinton.

Obama seemed to acknowledge them, saying that when Hillary Clinton lost against her husband in 2008, she didn't get "angry or disillusioned."

there is probably 1/3 of democratic voters who genuinely like Bernie. Unlike Bernie, Hillary is a uniter so I don’t understand her remarks, she should 100% commit to supporting the eventual nominee, period. It is one thing about Gabbard which was very important to do as she may have prevented russian intelligence service plans for tulsi. Look at what’s happening with polls in California where Bernie’s popularity is rising. I am very disappointed that Biden’s campaign doesn’t have 1/10th of energy that Bernie and his supporters are putting in. In a race like this, it is not unreasonable to assume that BS may win Iowa, NH, NV, CA, MI, WI, PA, MN, etc. Even if Biden may eventually win the nomination, the primary will drag on all the way to the convention leaving us even more divided than in 2016. With trump getting quickly aquitted in the senate, we are looking at uphill battle. There will be no limit to trump’s violations, no crime is too big.

52. I was at the National Convention as a pledged delegate and I saw what happened
Sat Feb 1, 2020, 11:16 AM
Feb 2020

Normally going to a national convention is a once in a life time experience. I have worked really hard inside the party on campaigns and voter protection issues for a very long time to earn this trip. Too bad that sanders and his vetted delegates ruined that experience and did their best to help trump. A candidate has absolute approval rights over their pledged delegates because these delegates can change their votes and these delegates represent the candidate and campaign. I helped vet Clinton delegates and I know that I was vetted. The Clinton campaign told us that we represent her and that our actions would reflect on her and her campaign.

In contrast, sanders sent one very weak text the Sunday night before the convention and then did little or nothing to control his delegates. It was nasty I was there when the sanders delegates booed Congressman John Lewis. I was warned about this stunt 30 minutes before it happened by the Clinton campaign whip. According to my whip, sanders was asked to stop this event and declined. That incident will be used against sanders if he runs in 2020.

I was at the Texas delegation breakfast when a group of sanders delegates marched in and demanded that we condemn Clinton and change our votes to sanders.

sanders spoke to the Texas delegation the next morning and his speech was again solely about himself. There was a mini-riot due to his delegates the prior morning and the only thing that sanders talked about was himself. sanders did nothing to deal with the fact that his delegates were out of control and did nothing to try to help Hillary Clinton win the general election.

Finally a group of sanders delegates yelled at my daughter and called her the c-Word because she would not try to get me to change my vote. Again sanders was asked to tell his delegates to behave during the convention and sanders refused

Talib needs to issue a real and not fake apology. sanders will not get any significant African American support if he is somehow the nominee. Russia will use the booing of John Lewis, Elijah Cummings, Stacy Abrams and Michele Obama to suppress African American vote and no Democrat can win without that vote

sanders needs to make a real apology to Clinton, John Lewis, the widow of Elijah Cummings and others if he wants to get support

100. Actually... he was completely silent... for WEEKS!!
Sat Feb 1, 2020, 02:33 PM
Feb 2020

Immediately after the convention, BS had a golden opportunity to show true leadership and help to bring people together during those critical weeks. Instead, he was completely silent... for WEEKS!!

Instead of helping to soothe hurt feelings, in those important moments immediately following the convention. Instead of setting a good example and leading the way... he allowed people to wallow in their own anger and remorse. Those feelings became toxic and resentful to the point of acting-out or feeling the need for "revenge".

Why would he allow that to happen? Was he completely oblivious? Did he simply not care?

Hillary is absolutely correct in her observations. These things that happened after the convention are historical fact. Bernie was absent and silent. We don't know what his motivations were for being absent, or why he believed that writing a book was more important than accepting what should have been his role in creating unity.

That's not what real and skilled leaders do. It's really a shame.

He did absolutely NOTHING to promote healing and unity in those crucial weeks immediately after the convention. That's what someone does when they're pouting and licking their wounds. I've received non-apologies like that in the past (long long ago past) from my abusive ex. He'd apologize because I made him mad enough to hit me. If only I had kept my mouth shut (or not looked at him the wrong way) he wouldn't have had to hit me, and so he's sorry about that.

Other than the fact that Bernie is gaining traction, I don't get why she felt the need to go there at this time. We must all unify to beat Trump. Especially now.

Because she knows in her heart that he lacks the leadership skills, the demeanor and temperament that our nation needs. Hillary knows that when someone chooses to remain SILENT and pout FOR WEEKS after the convention, they're not showing leadership.

Then she should say that.

She also knows that when she goes after him some of his supporters will push back.
When was that ever denied? Frankly, I'm delighted and grateful that she's speaking out and shining a light on her views that Bernie wouldn't be an effective leader. It's perfectly valid to point out that he was silent and absent during the crucial few weeks after the convention where he could have made a difference in soothing the tensions and hurt feelings among his supporters. By not saying anything, they were left to wallow in their own self-pity and their feelings of resentment and desire for revenge grew and grew. How could he not know what was going on around him? How could he be totally unaware? Either he didn't know, or he didn't care... whichever one it is, it's not at all flattering about his ability to rise to the occasion and to be a real leader.

All I'm saying is, that Hillary has the right (and is right) in bringing this up now, because it's a "forgotten" and little discussed aspect about what happened after the convention... and every indicator suggests that we're in for a repeat. Forewarned is forearmed.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Those days are past. This is now.
Yet nothing has changed, has it? Hillary knows exactly how this is going to turn out and she's doing her best to help us avoid it by reminding us of the leadership qualities that are necessary from the losing side too. After the convention, Bernie disappeared. Silent and absent for WEEKS! A golden opportunity to promote unity and it was used to pout.

Now I'm done with our conversation.
I imagine it must be frustrating to try and argue from a position of weakness.

Not you personally, the Democratic Party. I've had it up to my eyeballs with the Clintons, Other prominent Democrats have faded into the background, why is that so hard for Hillary? Or at least stop saying stupid shit that gets people riled up! Do people not understand how high the stakes are for November 2020?

A documentary on her life premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last week, so of course there's interest in what she said last year when it was filmed and in what she has to say now. Get used to it. The documentary will be shown in four parts on Hulu.

*****************************************************************************************

******************************************************************************************

Earlier last month when she was appointed chancellor of Queens University, Belfast, she showed up to accept the honor, much to the chagrin of those who have deemed it more appropriate for her to simply fade away.

******************************************************************************************

By the way, at the time of the filming of the documentary, HRC was asked for her honest perspective on and appraisal of many different events and people, BS among them.

Expressing a candid and informed opinion when asked a direct question during an interview that will be of interest to future historians isn't "saying stupid shit". It's speaking for the record and putting potentially toxic factions on notice.

Why is it so difficult for Hillary? DU seems to reject how polarizing she is to many voters. PA, MI and WI are MUST WINS in November -- we don't need the ghost of Hillary Clinton looming over the election.

Calling it an attack is divisive.

But I get it... indicting others for our own failures is becoming a standard. That doesn't "help anyone but Trump."

As for some more word salad... "people attacking people for attacking people shouldn't be attacked by people... that's an attack. And it's divisive!!!!"
