Tlaib cost Bernie more votes in Iowa tonight than she brought to him

Her clip booing, and encouraging the crowd to boo, Hillary will trend all weekend and force Bernie to disavow and/or Tlaib to apologize.

Hillary got more than 650,000 votes in Iowa in 2016. Those people are needed by whoever wins the nomination.

Purely from a political standpoint, Tlaib f***ed up.

I don't imagine Bernie HQ is happy about this.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Yes, she engaged in hyperbole. No, she wasn't childish.

If you think her statement that "nobody likes him" was "childish," did you call him "childish" for hyperbolically saying she was "unqualified" to be President? There's good reason for Hillary supporters not to like him, especially since he has done absolutely nothing to reach out to them or change his approach.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/04/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-qualified/477294/

"I think that what he has been saying about the core issue in his whole campaign doesn’t seem to be rooted in an understanding of either the law or the practical ways you get something done. And I will leave it to voters to decide who of us can do the job that the country needs, who can do all aspects of the job."

It’s classic Clinton: She’s cautious, careful, and stays on message. And the “qualified” broadside is classic Sanders too. He’s angry, and he’s not afraid to show that. This directness—and its contrast with the impression that Clinton is calculating—is one of the forces that has powered Sanders’s campaign.

He may have overdone it in this case. There’s a certain logic to attacking Clinton’s qualifications, since her campaign is built not on charismatic appeal so much as her experience and resume: Attack the strengths, not the weaknesses. But this sort of attack will only motivate and energize her own voters, who won’t hear it as a commentary on Iraq so much as a personal slam. Besides, Sanders has said in the past that he would support Clinton if she were the nominee, a stance his campaign manager affirmed Thursday. Clinton, meanwhile, seemed delighted to be able to take the high road. “I don't know why he's saying that but I will take Bernie Sanders over Ted Cruz or Donald Trump any time,” she said Thursday morning. (Of course, she also happily turned his remarks into a fundraising plea.)

ABC’s Rick Klein argues that “qualified” is a Rubicon—it’s pretty hard to go back and endorse someone you’ve said is unqualified. Maybe, though candidates have walked back stronger statements, and they’ll continue to do so. Sanders’s campaign seems to already be backing off his comments. Even if he walks them back, you can be assured they’ll return in the general election if Clinton is the Democratic nominee.

He appears to be saying that bothering "pleasantries" like saying happy birthday is pandering and fake, and gets in the way of being focused on the big problems in the world.

So there's that.

And I guess all these people who worked for him were "childish" and before you again try to dismiss these the things reported by staffers as "attacks on Sanders' candidacy from people who don't agree with his ideas" because they didn't come to light until a journalist thought it was relevant because Sanders became a POTUS candidate...and was performing due dilligence that the press is supposted to do...stop and recall that one of the GOP attacks on Christine Blasey Ford and Anita Hill was - "why did you wait to come forward with this until he was up for SCOTUS?"

"As a supervisor, he was unbelievably abusive," says one former campaign staffer, who claims to have endured frequent verbal assaults. The double standard was clear: "He did things that, if he found out that another supervisor was doing in a workplace, he would go after them. You can't treat employees that way."
................................................

"I think he's got a ton of conviction," the same former Senate staffer says. "I just think he's kind of harsh to a fault. He's so focused on his issues that he doesn't have a softer side. I don't think he's a very nice man."

Long time progressive Congressman Barney Frank was commenting on "Bernie alienating his natural allies" back in the 90's when they were in Congress together. Was Rep. Frank perhaps a clairvoyant that foresaw a Sanders POTUS run, and was simply "childishly attacking" to tank it all those years ago?

Why would the editor of the Burlington Free Press when Bernie was mayor have any reason be "childish" and dishonest about his and other's experiences with Sanders?

"Here's my problem with Bernie Sanders. With few exceptions, I agree with his positions on issues. But I don't like him or his political temperament."

You are dismissing many, many people who have worked with and for Sanders over the years in DC and Vermont as "childish" for voicing this observation about Sanders. If that's the case, isn't that a rather dim view of the choice of people Sanders hires or works with?

for a documentary on her life that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last week. The documentary will forever serve as part of the record of the 2016 general election and will be a valuable resource for scholars and historians.

There is nothing childish about a serious women answering a serious question with the her honest appraisal..

But your attempt to diminish an accomplished woman by laying a claim of "childish" is duly noted.

"wall street" "corporatists" "oligarchs" "centrists" - at least those terms sound political. But they are more or less equivalent in effect. "Nobody likes centrist" "I don't like oligarchs" - but most childish is going on about how Bernie is going to forgive student loans and establish a national health plan without having to work with a Senate that will always be conservative. Obama at least got that body to sign onto something. And he has people skills Bernie can only dream of.

The so-called squad has already become the punching bag of the Republicans. I guess they're looking to get a few more jabs from the Democrats as well. I really pray to every entity from heaven to hell that Sanders does not have to be the person I pull the lever for in November. No, that's not endorsement. I'd actually vote for a circus clown over Trump so yeah, I'll vote for Bernie, but I'm going to throw up in my mouth while in the voting booth.

Hillary may be taking a few shots at Bernie, and those jabs may be deserved if poorly timed, but while her timing may be bad, she has a LOT of fans even now (including me). By reacting to her, the Sanders surrogates are only going to cost Bernie even more Hillary fans than Hillary might be costing him. Not smart.

Rashid Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and AOC have yet to learn that decorum is sometimes your friend. All three have caused themselves problems for thinking out loud. (Nina Turner and Briahna Joy Gray are not helpful in winning him votes either.)

Tlaib was wrong in several ways. First of all, Hillary has been a fine public servant. She was a hard working Senator and a great Secretary of State. She has always wanted to make this a better country. Her service should be honored not denigrated. Secondly, Tlaib has an obligation to behave in a manner that is respectful of other Democrats. Thirdly, she is a member of Congress. She should know better that to "Boo" and behave like a middle schooler.

She should issue an apology, not only to Hillary but also to Democrats and the voters of Iowa.

She was asked for her unvarnished opinion. She gave it. She spoke truth about how BS is regarded by his Senate colleagues.

Tlaib did not disprove that. She merely responded in the most childish way and I am ashamed of and for her, because I too have championed Tlaib when I believed that she was in the right.

Why should Hillary apologize for speaking the truth?

I don't live in her district, but spent much of my life in Metro Detroit. While she is passionate, she comes across a too coarse and crude IMO, which negates her message to some extent. Stating at her inauguration "Impeach the Motherfucker" got her a lot of cheers, but I don't think it was necessary at that time and place.

I also don't think she did herself any favors last fall when she was planning a visit to Israel and Palestine. Initially got her permission revoked by Israel as she had previously indicated her desire to participate in protests while she was there. Her point was that as a US Government representative, Israel owed her the respect of allowing her into the country which made perfect sense.

It was what happened after that where it became somewhat ridiculous. She wrote an emotional letter to the Israeli government asking to be admitted for humanitarian reasons to visit her elderly grandmother, who she was very close to, stating that she might not see her ever again, and that she would respectfully not participate in any protests while she was there. Israel agreed to her request, but she then completely changed her mind, and said, she would not go under any circumstances, as it would be disrespectful to her grandmother to go under those conditions, if she couldn't express herself politically. So much for wanting to see her grandmother I guess. All she did was make herself look foolish for getting what she asked for, and then changing course 180 degrees when she got it.

Now we have this incident... I hope she gets beat in the primary, but not holding my breath based on previous elections in Detroit.
