Bill Maher's Comments About Bernie's Ground Game

snip

HBO's "Real Time" host Bill Maher explains why he believes Bernie Sanders is an attractive candidate and questions if voting matters if we can't trust election returns. Maher said he often shifts between the more progressive candidates like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and candidates like Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar.

"I don't think the Republicans anymore believe in democracy. I thought when Merrick Garland didn't get his hearing, I thought they can't subvert democracy more than that and Mitch McConnell said hold my beer," Maher said Friday night.

"I'm just saying I don't know if voting matters," Maher told his panel. "I don't trust the returns with Russia, and hacking, and all of that. I have to say, it affects how I vote. I've been going back and forth about this, and we all do to a degree. Do we want the progressive? I like Bernie and Elizabeth Warren but I feel mostly or have said something like Pete or Amy Klobuchar could win more easily."

"I'll tell you why Bernie Sanders is attractive to me now because he's the only Democrat, like Trump, has an army who when it gets to this other level, he's got a bunch of badass motherfuckers who will get in the streets," the host said.

Bernie "like Trump, has an army who when it gets to this other level, he's got a bunch of badass motherfuckers who will get in the streets"??? This is what we want? Sounds like civil war and that is not what most people want.

If we have to become Trump to beat Trump, then what is the point?

...take to the streets, etc. (peaceful protest is also getting into the streets). To become active participants. To be part of a movement.

The underlying point is really just that it's good to have a motivated, devoted base. Such a base working for positive things is not equal to such a base supporting negative things.

dirty. Do you really think playing nice with the fascists will get us anywhere? Do you really think tRump will leave office if he gets the boot? Do you really think he won't call police & biker thugs, "his people" as he calls them, to the streets to protect him. Do you thing he is not a very dangerous dictator backed by a very dangerous crime syndicate called the GOP?

He tends to alternate between bashing Republicans and bashing Democrats. Republicans are often evil and spiteful, and Democrats are often timid and weak. One can expect 90% of political stereotypes to end up on Bill Maher's show. He has to fill it with something.

doing you're own research matters. As for Bernie I think he would make a fine president & he is on my very short primary pick list.
